Watch live: BTS joins White House Press Briefing

South Korean superstar K-pop group BTS will meet with President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday "to discuss Asian inclusion and representation and to address anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination," the White House announced. Their visit to the White House follows Biden's recent trip to South Korea, a U.S. ally. Biden and BTS also will discuss diversity and the group's platform as youth ambassadors. Attacks on Asian American communities have been on the rise amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Biden signed into law in May 2021 the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act. The band received its first Grammy nomination last year after releasing the song "Dynamite" as a gift to fans isolated by the coronavirus pandemic. BTS' visit comes at the end of AAPI Heritage Month and joins a slew of young stars the president tapped to share messages from the White House.

  6. I’m sure people outside ARMY have no idea how inspiring BTS are as human beings in so many ways. They teach me so many things and I’m older than they are. They are always wanting ARMY to find their best selves. Look for what you love. Learn to love yourself and then you will be able to give love fully to others. Like one ARMY said, our relationship with BTS is not didactic, they never tell ARMY what to do or how to feel. They let us be ourselves and if that comes with warts and all, then warts and all it is! The are just good, humble men.

    1. BTS should give thanks to the United States for the fact that South Korea is even a thing. Without the sacrifice of our army, these young men would not be able to earn their millions as entertainers.

  7. I’m not South Korean, but as an Army, so proud of BTS’ achievements. Thank you for your coverage of BTS.

    1. You’re right!
We’re lucky BTS as an artists and public figure with a loyal huge fanbase around the world spread positive things, can’t imagine if it’s the other way around.., what the impact would be?
      Thank you BTS!

Asia’s spokespersons for justice, respect and education, they are the voice of the new generation. <33

  12. This is a glorious day for America to invite this historic South Korean group to the White House. It shows the importance of the USA to embrace everyone as human beings. It also shows the enormous impact the members of BTS have had on the world. I hope Army and non-Army people take note of the reality of Asian hate crimes and do something to speak up and stop this heinous problem. A proud moment for the BTS kings…very intelligent, respectful and caring men.

  13. I love how they’re standing up for all Asian people after so many years of seeming like they are taking all the criticism, hate, violence and stereotyping being thrown at them and all asians. They’ve come so far and even made sure to mention ARMY in their speech. True youth ambassadors and promoters of respect and positivity.
