@Steven Foulger Actually I was in the Air Museum in Darwin in January of this year. There were a lot of planes there including products of deHaviland. The center piece was a B-52 from the Viet Nam era.

WRONG, you dense, dumb blonde! The ship was stripped of all toxic materials. The sunken ship will now serve as an artificial reef for fish and other sea creatures. This is beneficial to the ocean.
@TDH Probably not, but even then, its an extremely small impact compare to our daily life. Heck, one plane flying LA to NY has more impact than sinking that metal carcass for TRAINING.

It’s a military exercise, so really it makes perfectly-disgusting sense that life (marine and all other potential) should needlessly die as opposed to helping the most in need. 🙁
Yikes to both of you. The military takes great care into decommissioning and scuttling a retired ship. They painstakingly remove just about every toxic material to marine life, they position the ship in a location least damaging to the ecosystem and in the end create a VERY large base for a reef which fosters hundreds, thousands of species of life.
