‘Water was over my head’: Kentucky man rescues 7 from floods

Nathan Day was up early helping his son get ready for work when he received a message from a neighbor asking him to save her grandchildren from the rising floodwaters.
Day, a former coal miner who lives in Hindman, Knott County, said he was unaware of what was happening in the region until he received the message saying the children needed help getting out of their house. Day talks to Anderson Cooper about how he managed to rescue 5 children and 2 of his former school teachers from floodwaters without a boat or proper equipment. #ac360 #andersoncooper #CNN

  1. Wow-some heroes don’t wear capes. This guy is extraordinary! Such courage! Didn’t even think, just went about rescuing everyone!

  2. I was so moved by this hero’s story that I got chills. I am thankful that there are men like him in the world.

    1. No medal is needed. To care for one another without fear is to be of our true essence and what we came here to do. To love, have compassion for all and live only to serve and help one another. No one deserves a medal for doing what is right. His heart is rejoicing as he is 9n alignment with God.

  3. It’s so amazing how generous, brave and loving these Kentuckians are. Praying for all of them….and for the area’s recovery. And wish i had neighbors like that.
(well….maybe i do. hope i don’t need to find out!).

    1. Hi! What a beautiful picture you’ve on your profile just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊.

    1. Indeed. What a world this would be if more people said, “Those people need help, and I have the means to help them,” the way this man and his wife did.

  4. I say all citizens who helped others, deserve an award, especially him. He put his life on the line to save others when there was no other choice but to try his best. Remember folks, power lines were going out, so yea, in the darkness, and I don’t dare risk going where the light don’t shine in the backyard where I am for fear of a bear or mountain lion, so he’s really brave.

  5. Thank you, Nathan for saving your neighbors and that doggo! You’re a true hero πŸ’œπŸ€˜πŸ»

  7. Wow, incredibly brave man… Risked his own life for others, a lot could’ve gone wrong walking through the floodwaters at night. That takes a lot of courage.

  8. He was a blessing to the people he rescued, such a good man with an equally big heart made of gold . Blessings to him and his family.πŸ’› πŸ’žπŸ’•πŸ’•

  9. What a freaking champion. We’ve got heroes coming out in full force and I hope it doesn’t stop. Excellent work.
