  1. the difference between “hereditary chief” and the elected chief, is that the Gov’t only listens to the elected chiefs and totally ignore the hereditary. their should be attention paid to both a both need to be considered in any major occurrence

    1. So forget about democracy!! Why bother having elections. Let’s follow what North Korea has for a government! All in the family forever!!

    2. Well Kathy, perhaps if the Wet’suwet’en would enforce their own traditional laws regarding hereditary chiefs the government would know who to deal with??
There really should be only 5 Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs and yet they’ve got 13. They have traditional laws regarding how one becomes a hereditary chief that are not being followed. The Wet’suwet’en have had since 1997 to get this straight and they haven’t. Therefore Canadian Laws apply.

    3. @Colin They don’t have veto power. That was part of the court decision in 1997.
In Delgamuukw, the courts said that “Aboriginal title is held communally.” This means that the land belongs to the Gitxsan Nation as a whole and not just to hereditary leaders. Therefore, decisions regarding the land have to be made communally.”

  2. 20 reserves along the pipeline are for it, only 1/4 of one reserve is against it and those are being paid by Tides foundation and it’s Dogwood enviro groups.

  3. There is a huge majority against the anarchist even in the indigenous communities. Now all blockades must be immediately lifted or be forcefully removed.

  4. Do not trust Trudeau or the rcmp in anything the say…as trudeau and the rcmp are involved in a cover up of corruption in the NB courts .crown and rcmp…their largest problem is keeping all the corruption covered up…and that’s a very big job….

  5. ALL 20 elected FNs leaders on the route who are directly impacted not only approved, but are participating in the project. Either Canada is a democracy and a nation of Laws or it is not.

  6. The chiefs also demand for pipeline workers to leave…what else is on demand? One show of favor should be given back as well…not another demand to just talk…

    1. Justanotherday inparadise exactly RCMP should be doing their job not offering to do their job . Maybe we should offer to pay them if they do actually do their job and if not then they shouldn’t be paid .

    2. Jim Dort don’t you think after the first gets sprayed the rest will take their sorry asses out of there. Hey use water cannons to disperse crowds in other countries . Would you stick around if you see your going to get wet and cold, I wouldn’t

  7. Fact: the pipeline will not reduce the cost of living by 1 penny per year for candaian civilians. With or without it, it dosnt change anything. It is simply for oil companies to save money not the Canadian citizen.

  8. Wow she is great!!!

I am impressed. Not a hint of animosity to anyone. I would follow her into battle for whats right any day!

  9. Yes, it’s spelled *_”Reconci$$$iation”_* for a reason. Playboy Justin Trudeau and his lying Liberal Goons love to spend $$$ Spend $$$ Spend $$$ because it doesn’t come out of their pockets. They have been given enough! Get Canadians back to work and Dump Justin Trudeau and the Liberals!

  10. “Former” being the active word here and i can see why she’s a “former” chief .
    .
    probably paid to say this.

if she knew what was happening and for how long this has been on for…. she’d be singing a different tune.
