To me, “charity” means volunteer work. Maybe, if everything’s kosher, the government “may” get involved by letting the charity declare its donations as non-taxable income, and even let the charity provide its financial givers with tax deductible receipt. But this is all to encourage more volunteerism. “Charity” in Canada has become big business – some of their CEOs take six-figure salaries – as well as big tax-writeoff business that forces you and I to make up the difference in lost tax revenue, from all this money changing hands, by having our taxes raised.
