I do not understand a country where one puts guns above the life of their children or fellow man. Is it such a fearful society that one doesn’t feel safe unless one is armed. I do not understand.😔

@Bryan Kirby I seen on another post that you said no one can tell me how to protect my family. And you dared them more or less to come if they were coming to take your guns. We all know that’s not going to happen. But what if it did let’s say. So when let’s say 20 heavily armed men come to confiscate your weapons how is your family going to survive a shoot out. So in the cause of keeping those weapons you would sacrifice your family. That’s what I’m hearing

As I posted just a few days ago, “hardening” schools is not the answer. Do we harden hospitals, nursery schools, grocery stores, office buildings, libraries? Let’s use common sense and start with the obvious steps to take with gun ownership. Most importantly, you don’t get to just buy a gun! For the first purchase there will be a mandatory waiting period until a safety course and insurance are in place. The government (ATF, not NRA) will oversee a comprehensive training program that will include a minimum number or hours in classroom and on the range with a final exam by a licensed psychologist to determine fitness. Insurance! If you own a handgun or rifle you must have a liability policy! The Second Amendment did not include what we see today with gun ownership.

@Chick Bait I don’t really get your point and I don’t want to rehash this with someone who is in love with AR15s more than innocent children in school. Teenagers should definitely not be able to access these weapons unless they are supervised by an adult, 21 or over.
@Gail Flanagan I agree with you on that point. Teenagers should not have access to any weapon in my point of view. I have teenage grandchildren and I don’t want them to have access to them. I agree that Kyle should not have been where he was at his age, but the 3 thugs that chased and beat and pointed a gun at him were in the wrong. Saying that, if Kyle was my grandson, he would not have had that weapon, and he would not have put himself and others in danger. The age to own those weapons is 21 and up, with training and a license.
OK, Senator, you recognize the problem and the solution. So do we. I think you r very accurate declaration is fine, but not news. No one cares what you think should be done. We all know what should be done. What we want from you and your lot is action – actual change that affects the problem. FYI, doors aren’t the problem. After all, if someone decides to ignore murder laws, why would they obey locked doors? Reemember, aan assault rifle is also a master key to every door.
What you should know is that we can all see you politicians doing nothing. You’re not telling us anything new. The entire public already sees politicians doing nothing while the public is enduring a real life purge every day. And we’re all watching nothing being done about it, live, on TV, 24/7. So quit stating the obvious like you’re recapping the latest episode.
What you should be doing is working to limit access to assault rifles and military weapons for civilians before some crazy person starts taking our their frustration on politicians at their homes. I don’t know how many doors you have in those things, but I’m guessing they’re not hardened against unauthorized entry or shut and locked 100% of the time. You may need some armed guards at every door of your house to keep out the gun nuts.
Or – spit balling – what if you raise up at work and prevent loons from even being able to get access to guns? Another way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to keep a bad guy from getting a gun. The only way to keep those guns out of the wrong peoples’ hands is to make it horribly criminal to sell guns to them. Regulate the sellers. I don’t care how illegal the buyer wants to be. If no one will sell to them without the threat of lengthy jail time and huge fines, they can’t buy guns.
Also, quit talking about other politicians like any of this is just their fault. You work there, too, friend. As far as the public (currently under fire) is concerned, you are ALL culpable in our murder, and the murders of our children. Pray we don’t form a mob.

In a previous video I saw it explained that the committee could make recommendations but not pass any laws. That is why this senator said the didn’t do enough. Why? Because nothing was done in the past and nothing will be done in the future. This us just a tactic to show they did something but is unwilling to give up the gun money in their pockets. Sad that taking care if their constituents is secondary to making money for themselves. Hopefully karma comes back to bite them.

@Bryan Kirby yes he did it’s nothing more than a modified m 16 .and if I remember correctly an m 4 had a small clip even in military use so the ammo wasn’t wasted. You had military training if they saw you were a danger to yourself or other troops. They wouldn’t have allowed you to keep that weapon. I own a deer rifle I like to hunt a Remington with a scope. But I have never saw anyone hunting deer with an AR 15 the high velocity rounds would ruin the meat. That kid wasn’t allowed to buy a handgun because he wasn’t 21 or legally buy beer or cigarettes.
@arclight my point corky is that Remington rifle of yours is MORE deadly than an AR-15. Which is why you don’t see people hunting big game with it and is why the military is moving to a 6.8mm.

Well, they did something. Passing legislations for much easier access to more lethal guns for more young people with fewer safety/background checks

There was a moment, hearing McConnell talk about having talks with Democrats where I almost thought maybe something would happen. But then I remembered who McConnell is: A Master Politician and he knows that he can just pay lip service while it all blows over and, in the end, nothing will change. And it won’t. This is life in America. The ‘greatest country in the world’.
