  1. They mentioned the police not having enough equipment for the rain, which leads to a staffing issue. Next time maybe they can ensure enough officers are out to control the flow of traffic and that they have the gear needed for such large events.

    What was the event btw?

    1. they need a flyover right there so it wont happen again. the traffic is always busy at that roundabout. aover head crossing is the only slopution

  2. Add more lane to the road, the more vehicle you have in a country the wider the road have to be

  3. there are various problems along that stretch from the light at the amusement park, to the lights along the Drax Hall stretch that combine for many years to cause traffic tie ups that are only made worse by the various drivers, mostly with red plates, who pass on shoulders and on turn only and no passing places, so that one is endangered as a pedestrian along that stretch. I do not blame Pearly Beach itself as j have often seen a problem at Fern Gulley or Progressive lights cause similar backups all the way to St Ann Bay, or problems such as with the horses earlier this year cause problems all the way in Ocho Rios. What is needed is to widen that stretch of road And install CCTV in both directions to start ticketing all drivers who use turn lanes or shoulders to pass at traffic lights or who pass in no passing zones at above the posted speeds.. instead of needing motorcycle or police to issue the tickets in person. Lets wipe out the bad driving and the associated deaths

  4. I believe there should be some communication on the radio to let the motorist know as soon as possible that there is a traffic built up or what is happening,so they can quickly plan their detour routes especially those who know these short cuts to their destination.
Pearly beach management would have been given permits a long time and advertise their entertainment.they would not have known peoples personal plans especially those not attending. Please this is my honest view dont bash me.
I do not go to these activities anymore but its obvious that the relevant authoriites forget it was a holiday weekend and should have been better prepared.

  5. What sort of a nonsense is this, don’t we have a police traffic division, surely, they are the ones that are responsible for ensuring the roads and traffic are properly monitored and the use of traffic cones are in place to guide and separate commuters from people attending events at the separate venues. It is poor management on behalf of the JCF St Ann’s Bay Division. Very poor. It is a very silly statement from the police superintendent to say no permits will be granted as long as he is there. What he ought to is to ensure he does the job properly, what he is paid to do and to stop making irrational statements.

  6. Everyone please start preparing for the economic collapse and great tribulation, you have to be prepared spiritually, mentally ,and physically in that order, stock up on water, food and medical supplies,be blessed and please Trust the Lord of lords and the King of kings The Son of God Jesus Christ to live a life full of true eternal satisfacn Forever Amem.

  7. All this confusion could have been easily prevented if the police were more equipped and organized. Mr lawmen, not granting a permit as long as you’re in office, does not solve this problem. Your statement sounds like a personal vendetta rather than business because of the wording. The population is getting bigger, and there’s more vehicles on the road, so it’s time to bring some engineers back to the drawing board.

  8. I don’t believe it is the beach parties alone that is contributing, because twice I was coming from Montego Bay and there were no event and the traffic was all the way from the first entrance into St. Ann’s Bay all the way up to the traffic lights in the little community after the roundabout at St. Ann’s Bay. Something need to be done to get people who always stop along that stretch of road to purchase food and they have to allow the traffic light a longer period for vehicles to go through.

  9. 20 mins in traffic jam is enough but 5 hours…ti ras…Big respect to people of Jamaica..Big up Wesley and Katie of Salem, Namon Dixon of Salem and farmers in Priory and all at Grants pen… seen

  10. The traffic pile-up may have been a good thing… Can just imagine how many ppl would have been speeding on that stretch. Possible lives saved.. lol

  11. Events keep all the time at pearly beach with no traffic built up like that… traffic was caused by something else

  12. The police them in Jamaica could have go out and direct the traffic. Why stop the event?? Do remember it almost three years Jamaica under lock down for sure people going to start go out because the place opening up. Police for sure it is your failure not the organiser of the event. Same thing happens when Celine Dion was there for Jazz and Blues.
