White House: Russia won’t dictate the US security assistance to Ukraine

The White House issued a statement saying Russia will not “dictate the security assistance” that the US provides Ukraine, referencing the country’s decision to supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles. Retired Army Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling discusses with CNN's Anderson Cooper why Russia is threatening to target the Patriot missiles and the disadvantages they will cause Russian forces.

    1. It takes time to determine if Ukraine would benefit from it, train Ukrainian forces how to use, maintain and repair it. They need to secure supply chains and oversight because Ukraine still has a corruption problem.

    2. @Sorcerer’s Apprentice or can hire contractors. All countries have corruption , see the European Parliament, more recently. Worse, for Ukrainains are the traitors and collaborators , especially after all what Russians did in Ukraine .
Even in US was discorvered, recently, a smuggling ring of Russians .

    3. I suspect that the missiles striking Poland provided the necessary _excuse_ to place this airspace defense system close to the Russian border. Foreign policy has some weird unspoken rules.

    4. It takes months to train an Ukrainian team to operate the highly complex system since NATO can’t have their soldiers on the ground to operate those systems. They probably started training the first crew about six months ago. Patriot system is quite different from what the Ukranians had previously such as S300.

    5. As civilians, honestly who are we to say what should happen when. Certain things are still and always will be above everyday people’s reach. I think this new age media has given most people a false idea that we are truly informed and educated on everything

    1. @Clint Fleetwood Russia lost so many war planes and most of his helicopters in the conflit. Maybe 50 war planes left and less than 15 helicopters left…I’m not sure.

    2. @Fish Lives Matter the world is waiting for Putin to make that mistake so there is a valid reason to wipe them off the planet for good. 😅

  1. “I have warned the U.S. more than 400 times the last 10 months that Russia will use nuclear weapons! By golly I am SERIOUS this time!”- Vladimir the dwarf.

    1. @MrThartofwar there murders, there is zero difference between what the Russians are doing and someone breaking into your house and stabbing you to death.

  2. “Those who supported, appeased or ignored Vladimir Putin, must be shamed for Creating a monster.”

  3. So Russia is going to purposefully send their aircraft towards the Patriot long range anti-air systems?
    Well… that’s one option.

    1. @luis velez Russia has already used a bunch of their hypersonic missiles. Turns out targeting for things going really fast is hard, they’re about as accurate as you’d expect, which is to say, not at all….

    2. @Elton Muchemwa The Patriot system has gained its fearsome reputation _because of how effective they were_ in taking down SCUD missiles. The misinformation or disinformation cope is ridiculously laughable.

    3. @Anthony  sticking up for your fellow bot eh? They are more effective than anything russia has, christ how many dud missiles has russia fired in this war?? I remember a video of a russian s300 double backing toward the launcher lol….

    1. @Alex xelA Russia is a totalitarian state with official department for cenzorship, which means that no information can be published by russian media or department that would go againts Kremlin. You can never get reliable information from any russian source, unless it was already banned and exiled. This is a fact. There is no such a department anywhere in the west. In other words, there is no way for you to know what you think you know. Any russian info is automatically invalid because of this. Anyone can look this up.

    2. What makes you think Russia would even try to start a fight with US. He knows he can’t beat NATO. US is escalating war in Ukraine instead of resolving it with negotiations.

  4. Well, hopefully, that is finally true! So send them aircraft, tanks, helicopters, and longer-range missiles (ATACMs, etc.). And even more importantly, QUIT TELLING UKRAINE WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN’T ATTACK! As long as it is a military target, even if it’s in Russia itself. The Ukrainians should have free reign to defend their country. They should have the right, and international support, to preemptively attack Russian military personnel, military bases, and ANY infrastructure that supports them. Ukraine’s defensive ability should not be hampered by world leaders who are scared of upsetting Putin. Appropriate military targets should include roads, rail, bridges, airports, refineries, pipelines, power substations, and power lines, amongst many others. Russia is the aggressor who invaded, and still occupies Ukrainian territory, and whome is attacking civilian infrastructure and killing innocent civilians. Ukraine should have the full support of the world for it to stop the aggression toward its land and its people without having one hand tied behind its back or having strings attached to military aid.

    1. @Niktoinikak There is your problem… your colonialism. All these lands that you declare are yours… the people living in the disagree.

    2. @Niktoinikak There are 100,000 dead Russia and more to come killed by Ukrainians, so I guess the didn’t get the message.

    1. @Zykel Maybe reread it, there is a HUGE difference between guarantee and assurances.

“The Budapest Memorandum was negotiated at political level, but it is not entirely clear whether the instrument is devoid entirely of legal provisions. It refers to assurances, but unlike guarantees, it does not impose a legal obligation of military assistance on its parties.”

Just like Russia guarantee not to invade.

    2. @Zykel You really think that means the US will come and fight your fights for you, btw who is helping Ukraine more than the US is ?

    3. @mrsharper the sad truth is that the United States should have stayed out of a conflict that is not our business..there is and never was a real reason for us to get involved except to foil russia

  5. Funny, I don’t remember the Russians asking the US what weapons they could provide to the North Koreans and North Vietnamese.

    1. @Will Tell All Based on how well their tanks and vehicles have performed in Ukraine, does Mr. Putin think his nuke junk still works? Most of his rusted crap was built in the 1960s…..

    2. @moya kiska For what exactly ? The Mexican government isnt an enemy of the USA, not sure about Cuba though…I`am guessing not totally either ?

    1. @Matt Barker pritend to be Ukrainian no oil no water no electricity we have a lot of wicked people in this world

    2. @ЭЮЯ AND RAA”PING AND KILLING WOMEN IN UKRAINE IS GOING TO ENSURE EQUALITY? RIGHT ?? MEXICO’S GDP IS LAGER THAN THIRD WORLD COUNTRY RUSIA !!!

  6. About time. Should have said this from day one. Every one of us has the right to help the Ukranians in whatever way we can. Putin has been threatening since day one because he knows that nato is the only block to his disgusting objectives in Ukraine. God speed to every possible assistance to remove the invading forces and protect their citizens.

    1. Are you willing to fight and die for Ukrainian Nazis? Are you willing to send your sons and daughters to fight for Ukraine? I did not think so sitting in your cozy home.

  7. Russia: “How DARE you! How DARE you help these innocent people protect themselves while we are conducting our illegal, merciless onslaught of them!” 🙄🔫

    1. Please read more. 12000 russofriendly ukranian civilians killed by the ukranian regime since 2014 until 2022, but your news net never showed you

    2. @Maki Antonelo show proof, or it’s just another russian lie. Falsus in uno falsus in omnibus, you guys dont get to say anything without proof any longer, you lost that trust when you A. broke the Budapest memorandum, B. claimed you werent going to invade Ukraine and then did so. C. Said you would allow the safe passage of civilian convoys for weeks on end and every day you broke the cease fire. D. SHALL I GO ON?

    3. @Maki Antonelo And you’re conveniently not going to mention what else happened in 2014 to piss off residents of eastern ukraine? You stole the Crimea! jesus christ, the short memories here…

  8. Regarding the cost for protection of the Ukraine and their people…Yes the cost of the Patriots is millions of dollars versus the low costs of the drones, but I think you are missing the point: It’s not how much the “low cost drones” cost it’s the damage they are doing in terms of infrastructure and more importantly the lives that could be potentially saved by destroying them before they reach the target. Surely this far outweighs any of the cost of the Patriots.

  9. ” White House: Russia won’t dictate the US security assistance to Ukraine”
Ok give them some of their nukes back then and get the party really started.
Sometimes people can say really silly things…

  10. Russia-“they stuck civilian buildings with rockets!”
Everyone else-“where those civilian buildings currently used for military purposes?”
Russia-“no no definitely not. Also disregard all the missing soldiers today, totally unrelated!” 😆

  11. Putin: “we will target the Patriot batteries”
Every soldier on the planet: “how in the heck will he do that?”
Every alliance citizen: “one does not simply target a Patriot battery”
Three year olds in preschool: “Patriot batteries would be hard to find, I discount Putin’s assertion.”
Brainwashed Russians: “Way to go! Putin rules!!”
