    1. @Charles That doesn’t even make sense. I have no clue what point you were trying to make.

    2. @Kitti whieldon She said that she hates America, this is karma and she is where she belongs. She has played in Russia for five years and knew full well how serious they treat drugs. She broke the law and should do her time. You are the racist if you think we should help her due to her race or orientation.

  1. I too am frustrated… at Brittney and her coaches. Did no one tell her not to take any chances and do something stupid like take any kind of drugs into a foreign country that is looking for any reason to use you as a political pawn? I mean Russia didn’t even have to plant anything on her, she brought that stuff into Russia herself. SMH…

  2. Imagine Russians giving her a phone call to a family member…
Brittney: I’m going to call my wife…
    Russians: The what?!….

  3. I have used weed for 50 years. I would not even think of going to an airport with weed anyone with any brains at all knows better than that. To release a real bad guy to forgive her stupidity is wrong. I don’t for a minute it was a hasty packing mistake. Weed is legal where I live but I am real careful about leaving my state with it and never would bring it to an airport.

    1. @jlbueno0611 I live in Russia . And I know ZERO person who smokes weed . Can you keep your drugs within American borders ?

    2. @jonnyq2323 naïve in what way? They’re not keeping the quantity a secret and the Russian laws are in writing.

  4. Department of Justice- 99.4 percent conviction rate. So you saying our system is worse than Russia’s??

    1. Isn’t ironic, she was an athlete that detest the national anthem and the US but now is pleading for the US to save her…

    2. @Peter Martell Russians prisoners actually receive money for their labour . I assume the American system is the same .

  5. I don’t understand why they said it’s a wrongful arrest…..different countries have different laws…. You visit another country you respect their laws…. Period!!!!! This is why people think we americas are so ignorant and full of ourselves

    1. They think we are bunch of idiots ‘that can’t think for ourselves’ ~ direct quotation quote from OBAMA.

    2. @Jungle Superstar Illegal Traffic of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances or of Their Analogues The illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, manufacture, procession without the purpose of sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues –
shall entail the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five hundred to one thousand roubles or an administrative arrest for a period of up to 15 days.

    1. I say you leave her there she kneel for the national anthem disrespected our flag now she needs their help leave her there

    2. @healthy so you want her to get away with breaking the law and want her to be treated differently like she better then anyone else.

  6. When you’re in a foreign country, you’re at their mercy when being detained no matter who wants to free you

    1. No shortage of Putin bots on this thread… how much is Putin paying you guys? Is he just promising not to poison you?

    2. @G Yes she did detest the National Anthem, Took a knee multiple times during the National Anthem. A total Disrespect to our county and those who served to protect it so you could enjoy your social media in the comfort of your home.
And Now she wants help from who???
No. No sympathy at all for this traitor.
She will get what she deserves, and she will have to pay the price and do her time.
Just because your a semi popular sports athlete doesn’t give you the right to think your above the law. Unfortunately for her she picked a really bad time to commit a crime in Russia. Good luck!

  7. If she gets the prisoner swap, I fully expect the US to free ALL prisoners being held in the US on drug charges. Let’s be fair now.

    1. Why would you fully expect that? The US is the most incarcerated nation in the world and Democrats and Republicans, especially the voters, think that’s just dandy.

  8. I dont understand, why do they keep saying “wrongfully detaining” when in fact she did have the cannabis on her??

    1. @Tomas Pita really ? She broke the laws of the Russian federation . Very serious crime by the way -drug trafficking

  9. Although I’m sure she is being used as a pawn by Russia, the fact remains that she put herself in a situation where she had a risk of losing her rights at any time when playing basketball in Russia. Also, she did, in fact, possess drugs at her arrest. Whether intentional or not, she is guilty of drug possession in a country where they could be very bad.

  10. Lesson learned here, if you pack in a hurry, leave drug paraphernalia that might have residue that is illegal where you are going and could lead to your arrest at home.

  11. I remember when Paul McCartney got busted, in Japan, with a quarter pound of weed. Japan’s very strict on drug smuggling.

  12. Imagine after so many years find and caught one of the most wanted by the FBI and CIA and finally get him to prison to might have to ended up exchanging him for a stupid person that brought weed into Russia

  13. Gotta know what’s in your bag when you travel especially internationally, I empty all my bags before I repack my bags and I have nothing illegal, you just have to know what’s in your bags.

  14. Can you imagine releasing the merchant of death in exchange for this lady. Not to mention I read they’ll try for another guy there since 2018. Now the other Americans are suddenly worth helping. All for trying to score some perceived political points.

    1. The other gentleman should’ve been brought home long ago. All his family & everyone who knew him said the Russians were lying about him. Make the best trade possible and bring any Americans home.

  15. We need more Locked up Abroad episodes!!! Does she deserve 10 years NO but does she deserve some time unfortunately yes. Anyone with lower economic status would not even make the news or receice a call from the president/vice president. Wishing her all the best though!
