While if your baby is under the age of 1
I wouldn’t recommend this for the long haul it will most definitely do in a pinch:)
Per 8 oz bottle
half homogenized milk
half boiled water
2 even tablespoons karo
(oka Dark corn syrup)
I learned this old fashioned formula recipe when I was penny pinching visiting family in the South and the airline misplaced our luggage with all our formula in it.
They did find and return it 8 days later but in the meanwhile my 3 month old was more then perfectly fine:)
And before anyone says it ,
Corn syrup is in many formulas.
It’s used to replace lactose,
(Natural suger found in breast milk.)
either for allergen reasons or simply because its more cost effective.
Either way that natural sugar is needed
for baby:)

not really they have the formulas online on amazon and walmart. I was just in walmart today and baby formula shelves were full.

I find it a little bit scary that a SINGLE PLANT going down can cause store shelves to be empty. Either 1) We trust abbot to promise to have better plant safety going forward (seems risky). 2) We change the laws to allow imports from Europe and Canada or 3) We need to break up this near-monopoly on baby formula production.

Back in the days there was no powder or liquid infant milk. I made my babies milk. Half evaporated milk, half water and dark karo syrup. Both of my grown daughters are healthy.
Whole milk . I was raised on .
Most people don’t know that babies are usually not lactose intolerant. That’s a condition that sets in during the teens or early adulthood. It might actually be a good thing… if an adult in a rural population can’t have milk, then there will be more left for the babies and young children. In other words… lactose intolerance may actually be a net positive adaptation.
