You can point out that the long-term goals the Bush Admin wanted to achieve went down the drain as the war dragged on, followed by political chaos in the region. But to assert, without proof, that Bush, especially the often clueless George W. Bush, managed over the course of years to plan something as sophisticated as the 9/11 attack, when he botched the whole Iraq operation in the long run, is to adopt the same strategy as Trump and his supporters have been using since he promoted the Birther movement: inventing smears of people you don’t like just because it feels good to say them. You do not help your cause, assuming you have one, by doing so.
Everything Trump has done has been good for Putin. Trump has also been good to Russian mobsters and Oligarchs, by letting them launder 100s of millions through his properties. He not known as a Russian asset for nothing. He has earned that title.
