Leaving aside the fact that all bullies are insecure and seeking admiration from precisely those they denigrate, does it not become clearer and clearer that Donald Trump is desperate? To not face the same rest of his life as Bernie Madoff is? Or at least not spend the rest of his life fighting prosecutions? Perhaps he still refuses to release those tax returns because they might show that he doesn’t actually have the cash to pay a battalion of high-priced lawyers for years on end. Even Obama finally released his long-form birth certificate just to shut up the people, led by Trump, who were demanding to see it. At some point hanging on to a principle based on process becomes more dangerous in practical political terms, so there must be another reason besides sheer stubbornness for keeping those returns secret. Is Putin going to keep bankrolling him if he’s out of office, or would he have to start selling properties to stay afloat?

@Frank Fanuzzi Remember that the electorate in a state may Constitutionally ignore the peoples vote. E.g. GOP electors in swing states (and to my understanding quite some swing states have republican electors). It has happened once 150 year ago. And the SCOTUS has accepted it as being Constitutional. The Constitution unfortunately had an opening for tyranny from the beginning. And Trump, the Republicans and the Russians will do everything to get those electors to vote him for President whatever the people voted in that state. If Trump becomes the President in such a fashion, the military.—according to the Constitution—must accept him as President and the Commander in Chief.
Trump and many Republicans will use any legal or illegal trick they can come up with to get such electors to vote for him. Because if he succeeds no one can touch him or any such elector.
Now, that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t vote. The larger the majority vote for Biden will be in a swing state, the harder will it be for electors to ignore it.

Abolish electoral college, that’s most broken, outdated, and most undemocratic system possible.
Especially since an electorate may Constitutionally ignore what people in his state has voted for. GOP electors in a swing state where the population has voted pro-Biden in a large majority are still allowed to vote for Trump. It has happened once in the 19th century. And SCOTUS has declared it’s legal.
