You seem to be more interested in creating outs for Trump than acknowledging that Trump said it was contained when it wasn’t. Said it was a hoax when it wasn’t. Said it would go away in April when it didn’t. Said we should investigate UV lights inside of the body without regards to how that would actually work. And said they should inject disinfectants inside of the body.
You can call it Democratic talking points if that pleases you but I’m an independent and if both Democrats and Independents can see this weak argument you’re trying to make and see right through it, Trump’s political chances may be in doubt. Maybe your cult talking points aren’t so effective when met with reality. @Vikram Gupta I agree with much of what you say. Trump is a populist prez, certainly not professional politician. My friends on right cringe at his delivery. I suppose the difference in opinion has to do with freedom vs safety on the COVID-19 issue. Our country defended itself against tyranny in WWII at great cost. I think everyone would like a more secure border, doubt if much of the right actually wants a wall. Up to now, our vibrant economy allowed my 3 20-something kids a chance at a career-I appreciate Trump for helping to make that possible after 15 years of basically nowhere to go. Take just one subject-China: For 25 years, the left took issue with communist China and as a democrat-so did Trump. Now it’s flipped. Why? The issues (so-called facts)-stealing land in S. China Sea/building up military, killing off endangered species, world’s biggest polluter, lack of transparency and human rights in authoritarian gov., stealing tech and intellectual property from US, problems in our universities, Tibet and Taiwan atrocities, etc. – are the same. I’m not sure I believe all that, but I do see a problem relying on a country like China to help us through this virus thing. They had no reason to share knowledge or anything else with outsiders. That’s totalitarianism. For a free society to fully trust and cozy-up with a China presents inherent problems-especially when the goal of both countries is the same-to become number 1. I am tired of cheap crap that fills up our landfills and the toxic food produced in China-my only real issue. I don’t particularly like the way our “critical products”- medical equipment, drugs, supplies are all manufactured in China and that was Trump’s primary platform 3 years ago.
