I strongly believe that this protocol should be the standard going forward, where the athlete’s identity is undisclosed until the result has been officially confirmed. Can’t see any harm if the public doesn’t know who was allegedly in violation if it turns out that there was no actual violation in the first place. I believe that the moment an athlete’s name is publicised like this the damage is almost irreparable. It’s like there’s a hidden asterisk beside every quality performance by this athlete.
