I would argue that just as Trump can only fake feelings for others [and then badly] he also has no real depth of feeling for himself. Yes, he can meet those primal needs and have moments of being ‘temporary satisfied’ ‘or one may say ’emotionally bloated’ [like stuffing himself with so much food that he feels sick] but I don’t think he can do complex feelings at all [ones that involve both himself and something extra e.g. other people and their thoughts or feelings, the future, the past, or alternative choices. Hence he has no concern about changing his mind; it does not cross his mind that he has done so. He has just reacted to a situation and said what makes him feel sated/full/big/important – all the same to him I guess.. And as I said, if he can’t do future stuff [well not complex future thoughts] then it won’t cross his mind that there will be detrimental consequences. For him consequences exist only in the here-and-now and his focus is on getting immediate satisfaction anyway he can. Of course I may be over-analyzing him but it sort of makes sense [and I am fascinated how such a monster got into the White House]; and it may explain you own insight into his apparently self-destructive behavior.

@Daniel if you refer to my above comment about limiting the voting age of white males over 50 (made largely in provocative jest), I was not so much “criticizing those in power” as “advocating for a reform of our political system that takes into account necessary reparations for past discriminations by promoting the vote of categories of citizens which have historically been oppressed”. It’s a much cheaper way to achieve reparations than anything else I’ve seen offered, and it’s not as bad as it sounds. You still get to vote from age 15 to 50.
