There can’t be supply without demand. And likewise there is no Trump without his cult followers. And the latter make up the more dangerous part of the equation because the leader doesn’t even need to be in a appointed position of power for the group to continue to worship, obey and act.

@Marcos Juarez What do you mean “proportional representation”? It doesn’t have to be Manichean. Representation will of course be different in different states. But speaking of that, maybe also time for the Electoral College to go, and to herald in a one-person-one vote system. America is ripe for it. It really doesn’t need the electoral college anymore, which was designed in a time period lacking in modern technology.

@Marcos Juarez In those days, people didn’t have fast and easy transport or the internet, so they elected certain persons to travel to the capitol to convey how their state voted. The other reason was to avoid a populist vote, but as is obvious, neither of those reasons are applicable anymore, since as we saw with Trump, electors don’t really have the power anymore to override the people’s vote when they’d made a bad choice.
@SirTone They aren’t major parties. Their influence is virtually insignificant.

I use to be moderate but seeing what the republicans party has turned into over the years going back to when Clinton was in office is disgusting and has pushed me further to the left. They are the ultimate hypocrites. And there hypocrisy know no bounds.
A two party system has destroyed this country
The problem is that you constantly have elections – every two years there is either a Senate, Congress or presidential election. These elections are unlike mayoral and city elections because they are two party elections. Most nations have one election for government every 3, 4, or 5 years, thus having at least 2 years without political noise.
Their fear of having a lifelong target on their back is overshadowed by their towering political greed to stay important and powerful. HISTORY WILL REMEMBER.

Stop dividing chairs that they all sit on, mix them all together alternating red/blue so they all get used to sitting next to each other and share ideas and get along more in the long run, respect each other more.
