  1. US can’t afford the prison population it already has now.
US can make much more money off legalizing marijuana then criminalizing it.
    Even food sales increase.
The US dose need reform, badly.

    1. @Wes Personal Page That makes communicating even more important. You have to make your message clear if your wanting it to stick and unfortunately ‘Defund the Police’ isn’t a very clear message. Most people don’t even know what that means in a practical sense, I suspect even amongst those who use it. Even John Lewis was concerned about what Obama is talking about here.

    2. @Bryn Phillips defund the police was created by organizers not politicians. Obama being is capitalizing on ignorance. he as the politician could make the slogan. hes choosing rather to nurture the message, to attack the message. you notice he said “their goal” he said he knows whats desired his slip let it be known hes no longer for the people. he could mold the message but instead he attacks it yet no its progressive doing the dividing smh. John Lewis rip wasnt a radical progressive invoking his name because he’s black and dead is low. just a new version of telling ppl what MLK wouldve wanted.

    3. @Adam Valenta Trump=1 term; Obama=2 terms; George W Bush; only won 2nd term bc of Supreme Court. So mainly Democrats in the past 20 yrs. Before that, Clinton 2 terms; George HW Bush, 1 term. In each case, Democrats cleaned up the messes: deficits & wars.

    1. @Sheila Boston I see what you mean. But what I’m talking about is in the past, they have had training to reform the department and yet the problem persists. An to be a police officer is not like being a Sherriff. Which should be the only cops.

    2. @Veo T. you could get rid of all cops an just use sheriff’s. You believe a lie. Untrained idiots shouldn’t be killing people in the street. It has my support. An if you need people to coddle you on labels, we have bigger problems. You should take the time to see what these people actually are asking for, an not what Fox rants on about.

    3. @NoExpiration Mona Brown I really enjoyed not seeing cops when I lived in Indiana. They utilize Sherriffs and have almost no police rolling around, causing issues. There are ways to do this, of people would stop an try to think it thru.

    4. Reform means change. The police has been reforming (aka getting more militarized and bloated budgets) for decades. Reform does mean a damn thing. What did Obama do for 8 yrs about this? Not a damn thing. He is no progressive.

  2. If you want police reform just take away their qualified immunity and make them more transparent and accountable for their actions. End of story!

    1. Also, close the loophole were fired officers can get on at another dept.
If you lose you job as a police officer, then you are exempt from ever being one again, or make them go through some specialized training before rehire.

  3. Reform and police accountability!! Not defunding it, we need the police! I’m a democrats and I voted for Biden

    1. Pay police more but make it harder to become one and hold them accountable to the same laws that they enforce… Simple

    2. @j m you are butt hurt, I know. No matter how bad you want it, how much you scream and yell and wish for it, trump will be kicked out of office January and Biden will take his place

    3. @RektScrub 100%!! They need to make more and at the same time have a license like an accountant or attorney to practice law. At the same time make them more accountable for their wrong doing so they can lose their licenses. Because right now they kill someone, get fired and they just go to another police department like nothing happened

  4. How would one interpret “defund the police” any other way than that someone wants to actually defund the police department(s)?

    1. I think ” defund the police” is a really bad slogan im afraid to say i would guess half the people would think u want police budget cut and no police etc. Words matter and to get people on side need simple ways to explain things.

    2. hmmm does F*CK THE POLICE mean to have sexual intercourse with them? I mean how else would one interpret that?

    3. @lumpy bumpkin the police are parasites
How about America needs a parasite cleanse
“Parasite cleanse” can be the slogan
      Or
      End police state welfare

    4. @Nick B False. There’s no literal difference between “reducing funds” and “defunding”. Defunding something doesn’t necessarily mean that *all* funds are being revoked. You’re letting yourself be manipulated too easily by reactionary framing.

    1. Chuck Schumer is the most ineffective Democrat on the Senate guy don’t know how to fight the walking dead Mitch

  5. I agree with Obama. Im latino and those words don’t sound right, “reform police” makes so much more sense and logical.

    1. @j m right so sex? Thats not gender. Do you even get what your arguing? Gender is based on secondary serial features, appearance and other socially constructed norms that have continuously changed.

    2. @j m No I’m clear on what sex is. You think Gender is biological? That proves you aren’t even making enough sense to even argue. Like its historically accurate to say India had 3 genders but sex is still male/ female, does that make sense yet?

  6. I will say I don’t like the wording of defund the police but I think that we should stop giving them military grade gear and save that for the swat teams

    1. @Sheila Boston like I said some wording gets y’all panties in a bunch… or your just bold face liars who could careless about the environment … we’ll never know 💯

    2. @Timmy Truth hey, Will Troll! I knew it was you! Followed the link and sure enough! Trying out a new name, huh?

  7. Reform the Police, Reeducate the Police etc. It’s all the same. The core problem is the criminal justice system.

    1. @RE BURD I get where you’re coming from and I don’t distrust Dr Fauci at all. He’s pretty straightforward and honest, though, like everyone he’s got a bias, which is unrelated to his scientific expertise. He happens to have an anti-trump, anti-conservative bias in my opinion, and there’s nothing wrong with that; so do I. But his expertise in medicine has nothing to do with political views. People have different degrees of trustworthiness in their different attributes. Fauci certainly has a different worldview than I do, being in the medical profession. I don’t think he really thinks about the working class or the economic sphere, or decline of America, because he is too busy in his own field. I have no problem with people being experts or dedicating themselves singularly as long as they don’t let it get to their head and stick to their sphere. Fauci certainly spends more time talking to the democratic establishment and CNN than he does the conservative establishment, which people notice and is bit of a problem in my opinion. He should have been trying to appeal to all Americans including the ignorant anti-mask conservatives and get them on his side.

    2. @Connor Lynch Spoken like somebody failed by a poorly funded education system. Two sentences, separated by a comma, with no period at the end. Perhaps education is simply wasted on you.

    1. BLM/ANTIFA demands defunding the police or your house or store will be burned to the ground.
Will be interesting what democrats decide to do.

    1. But many others lost … so trading one democrat win for ten democrat lost is not worth it … primary cori bush cause she hurting the party

    2. Yes but her district was set up for her. 49% black adding to the hispanic and other minorities they make up a majority so defund the police did do good. But also take this into account, a President works for everyone. Obama had to get his supporters and middle undecided people to vote. Reach into the middle and change the slogan but keep the same meaning. If cori and others don’t do what Obama is saying, the democrats will lose more and more seats.

    3. @Thepopcornator that’s not why … check out the ads . The republican was pushing the defund the police … some ppl voted for biden but didn’t support democrats in local races … biden said he wants more police funding … so they voted for him but didn’t for democrats … they split the ticket

    4. @Thepopcornator so primary bush … she hurting our party … we want police reform … we lose both houses then the defund chant will be just a chant … we can’t ACTUALLY change anything politically .

  8. When people hear” Defund the police” they hear “ no more police” which has meaning to some in different ways. Yes, it helped trump get votes. Typical of progressives, where a slogan can alienate masses. Think of people affected by crime, police violence, racism. All required attention for decades. But a slogan made it an election issue when most of the country felt police violence was an issue.

    1. What does it matter? He’s not the president and neither is he running for office, much less the authority to decide elections while Election Boards and/or the courts look on from the sidelines..

  9. You take a complicated issue like reforming, reducing and or reallocating law enforcement funding. Then boil it down to a slogan of “defund the police” and then complain that people misinterpret what you are saying.

    1. True, but what new blood was ready and available to run against Trump 🤔….. none, so you work with what you have and try to do better 🤷‍♀️
