AI in the time of Loneliness

This week, the Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy addressed the epidemic of loneliness Americans are facing. As a way of combatting the feelings of isolation, Dr. Murthy laid out a six-pillar plan rooted in social connection. What's not mentioned in his plan… artificial intelligence or chatbots. 1. Only clicked on to comment that is disgraceful that you are having trump on live, if you don’t ask real questions I will never click again

  2. The implications of this suggest something about human nature. Talking to a machine takes out the shame/blame dynamic that prevents many patients from reaching the inner truths necessary for full improvement. We shouldn’t look at this from just a ‘societies attitude vs AI) perspective. We aren’t seeking authentic connection with these machines, when it comes to therapy, we are seeking a shame free experience, an AI alternative can potentially provide a shame free therapeutic experience

    1. Although connection with your therapist (or in this case AI) is vital to healing as well, there are great potential benefits of AI therapeutic tools.

    3. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelensky uses a dirty nuclear bomb. No wonder Zelensky left Ukraine!”
