@Mike Wilson! How so? This issue between the provinces and federal government has been brewing for a very long time. There is a lack of regional representation in federal institutions since confederation. Power today is centralized in the PMO. This is tantamount to a monopoly of power. This federal unilateralism has generated the anger witnessed in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. It’s a great day for democracy.

Canadian interests are becoming too divided by region. What works for Ontario and Quebec will not necessarily work for Alberta. Either change the voting system to limit the influence one province can have over another, or you may see similar legislation pop up elsewhere.
As a someone from Quebec, I totally agree, it would also help our leaders to stop being dependant from other provinces!
Absolutely, the way things are done worked way back in the day but things are different now, there needs to be a new way of doing things.
The west Canadian provinces need their own federal division. Plain and simple. West and East Canada are just two far apart, and two different in ideology and vision for what this country should be.

This is interesting. If Igor Panarin is correct in his 2008 prediction and the United States splinters into six countries then Alberta would likely join the “New Canada” states. Being the gas station for most of the 49th parallel states would be a huge economic boost. I think the only reason this has got this far is because American interest are supporting it and if they support it then so do I. JMIO 🙂
