Residents in a northwest Syrian town discovered a crying infant whose mother appears to have given birth to her while buried underneath the rubble of a five-story apartment building leveled by this week’s devastating earthquake, relatives and a doctor said Tuesday.

The newborn girl was found buried under the debris with her umbilical cord still connected to her mother, Afraa Abu Hadiya, who was found dead, they said.

  3. No human can even comprehend what those little ones experienced burried alive in dark and cold for tens of hours. If watching and knowing this does nto make your heart ache, no matter who they are, where they were born, what language they speak, there is something fundamentally wrong with you.

    1. Sadly I know a person that would not be affected by this. He cries for his dogs, buys them expensive food and things but when it comes to a human being…even an innocent child, he does not care. Yes, there is something fundamentally wrong with him. Sadly there are many people like that that walk this Earth.
