I don’t see Garland “overriding” any recommendations to indict/not indict by Smith. Garland is looking for confirmation of a conclusion I believe he’s already arrived at.
I hope you’re right. I believe they have enough evidence already, but Garland is doing the professional thing. It is the DOJ’s job to remain independent, so as to avoid the appearance of political prosecution. If it works out like I hope it will, this may give some legitimacy and “teeth” back to the Department of justice. We already know what Drumpf enablers and the right wing media will say. F them.
