Dominica new $40 million hospital from China soon

Dominica now Princes Margaret Hospital

China will build a new $40 million hospital in Dominica, an island still dealing with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Erika, which killed at least 31 people and caused more than $480 million in damage.

Dominica’s government said in a statement Monday that plans were underway to proceed with the construction of the new hospital despite the setbacks caused by the natural disaster.

The medical center will be constructed near Princess Margaret Hospital in Roseau.

A government official told EFE via telephone on Monday that there was no information yet on whether the new hospital would replace the current one or would operate jointly.

Tropical Storm Erika left more than 370 homes on Dominica destroyed or badly damaged. EFE
