FORMER EDUCATION MINISTER HON. RONALD GREEN SWORN IN AS LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION IN DOMINICA

Roseau, Dominica – August 11, 2008………Parliamentary Representative for the La Plaine constituency, sixty-eight year (68) old  Hon. Ronald Green has been appointed the new Leader of the Opposition to replace Hon. Earl Williams who resigned last week following allegations of financial misconduct involving the misuse of a client’s funds.

The swearing -in of Dominica’s eighth Leader of the Opposition took place at the State House in Roseau last Friday morning.

Hon. Ronald Green is also the new Leader of the main opposition, United Workers Party.

The resignation of Attorney-at-law and Parliamentary Representative for the Salisbury constituency, Hon. Earl Williams came just weeks after members of the Parliamentary Opposition led by Hon. Earl Williams, walked out of Parliament on Budget Day. Hon. Williams himself held aloft a placard with the words “criminal investigation”.

Hon. Ronald Green who has been in the political arena since the 1970s seemed happy in his new role at Friday’s ceremony and seemed oblivious of the circumstances which led to his appointment as Leader of the Opposition.
