Could there be basic financial and background information collected when candidates register to run for public office so that background checks could be done and published for each candidate for office?

With the exception of Stacey Abrams, I just don’t understand the complacency of the Democratic Party leaders.
The fact that his opponent had a whiff that there were discrepancies in his bio and they ignored it when had he been a Democrat, the Republicans would have been all over it is not surprising to me.
The most basic thing to do would be to check your opponent’s background, but again the Party failed to do that, even when they had reasons to.
It was outside circumstances that prevented the red wave, not anything that the Democratic Party did. The party cannot just get fired up the last couple weeks of a campaign and be asleep the rest of the time. I am sad to say it, but I just do not have any confidence in the Democratic Party leaders. The party needs young, aggressive proactive leaders who leave no stone unturned.
