Hear rabbi’s message to Marjorie Taylor Greene after Holocaust comments

Rabbi Joshua Stanton, Senior Fellow at the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, reacts after Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene compared House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to continue to require members of the House to wear masks on the chamber floor to steps the Nazis took to control the Jewish population during the Holocaust.

  1. Is the US legal system r e a l l y incapable of cracking down on all these people who are viciously destroying democracy? I am German and I am shocked by such statements.

    1. @Mr. White Regardless of the original language from the forefathers, this nation has evolved into something closer to a democracy. As you know, landowners were initially the sole influencers over the direction of the nation. I can get into the reasoning but that’s another discussion. Bottom line is “we the people…” has more relevance with more inclusion (“a more perfect union”). Yet despite all the amendments to make things more perfect over the decades and centuries, there remains a demographic of bigots and hateful people whose ideology should be dead already. MTG represents those people. It’s sad and painful to witness.

    2. @Mr. White Don’t you understand that parts of the GOP are on the way to becoming a fascist organization? This whole troublesome leader cult, fabrication of reality, alienating and eliminating people like Cheney, who dare to disagree? The same thing happened in the 1930s in Germany. So many of my own ancestors followed Hitler for selfish reasons, because they liked to cheer the man and because they lacked the guts and intellectual capacity to stand up for the truth. And 10 years later millions of Jews, political enemies, homosexuals and others were murdered, Europe was in a horrible war and dozens of millions (including Americans) lost their lives. Suddenly people realized whom they had been following, but it was too late. Of course, the border cages were no concentation camps, but Trump’s way of treating foreigners and his shameful rhetoric (and that of MTG) is comparable to the beginnings of German fascism. And, no, wearing masks is by no means comparable to the shoah. Only very stupid and evil people make such a comparison.

    3. @dago87able dude, children in cages? Are you for real dude? You honestly can’t see that was a media narritve that took routine procedures that happen across all administrations and create negative press from thin air? Currently same, actually worse situation termed differently and you honestly believe you have an argument??

    4. I want to deeply apologize to you and the rest of Europe on behalf of the American people! This is not the norm here. These soulless heartless brainless monster’s do not represent the nation of the United States of America!!! This is one of the most disturbing thing’s I have ever seen!

  2. She is so undereducated, so ill-equipped to hold a position in Congress. Her constituents could do so much better.

    1. @Deborah Haney Republicans know 911 happened they saw the Trade Towers fall. Republicans take that seriously and know it was a Terrorist attack.

    2. Republicans have gerrymandered districts to the point where they can’t lose. That is why Mitch McConnell was reelected and what happens when left to constituents in the gerrymandered district, keeping it republican.

    3. @StarkRaving Ralph I think voting in America has a lot of problems. Their should be rules to make it hard to cheat and a fair way to set up a Congressional District. There are rules to Congressional Districts that Republicans and Democrats both complain about.

    4. @Cadillac Kadafi that’s just it though, she ISN’T from the area she’s “representing.” Her dum-dummery wasn’t resonating enough in the district she lived in, so she rented out a condo in a much more rural spot where she could sell her “Guns, Gumption, ‘Gram trolling, and Guns Again” message much more easily.
It certainly wouldn’t fix everything, but it might help to require U.S. representatives to live in their district for a predetermined number of years before being eligible to run…

  3. I will never understand how she is allowed to continue her sick damage. What kind of country have we turned into?

    1. @Its morphed mask mandates are not infringing on your rights and have no comparison to the holocaust, Karen.

    2. Her constituents absolutely adore her. I honestly think she comes up with outlandish offensive behavior to appease the extreme faction in the Republican Party. She just like Trump say exactly what the Republican base think & feel.

    3. @Its morphed You imbecile. The reason why the mandate is still in place is because 1/2 the GOP in the House has yet to be Vaccinated. The mandate would have been off, if the morons would have been vaccinated. The mandate is meant to keep them safe from their own political actions. I say, let them suffer the mandate and let them suffer getting sick. It’s their choice to be irresponsible and stupid. They are the reason they have to continue to wear a mask. Also, what right are you losing by wearing a mask? Your Right to have a stupid opinion seems to still be intact. So, it can’t be that one.

  4. Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. – Martin Luther King Jr.

    1. @Green-eyed Girl Again, show me proof of ANY parallels between nazis and republicans. I’ll wait.

    2. @Jimmy Ritter I have many Republican friends and try to help them see my point of view, and maybe ask them a few hard questions about what is going on and deemed “normal “. It’s so important to have dialogue with peers…

    3. @C Cato it’s true, immigration is a hot-button for both sides. Let’s PLEASE stop using inflammatory retroric for lambasting the other side…we will never get to the bottom of real issues when political opportunism rules the day

    4. @Nicolas Stanley Take a wild shot in the dark and ask yourself why they don’t see your point of view? And do you care to try it on me? Want to try and ask me some of those “hard” questions?

    5. @Jimmy Ritter I never called you a bot, perhaps try reading what people write, your replies might make better sense. But here I’ll educate you again…. definition of an internet troll: A person who posts remarks or comments onto internet forums or message boards in an attempt to get someone to comment negatively to it and to redirect attention onto himself. Usually, these remarks are controversial, stupid, off-topic, inflaming, illogical, or childish. Sometimes, the comments are enough to enrage the people in the forum to want to respond back with their own negative remarks which starts a flame war and changes the topic and attention of the discussion. Since, internet trolls are attention whores, this is exactly what they want since they probably don’t get enough attention in real life and needs someone else to acknowledge their self-worth and existence. Nowadays, they are commonly found infesting internet forums and websites. Sound familiar?

  5. I am tired of hearing this word “unacceptable” when it comes to the sickening outrageous antics of the Republican Party. If there is no consequences for their actions, why even talk about it?

    1. by keeping the antics at the forefront of people’s consciousness, the consequences will come down the road. For now they’re just words unbecoming an elected official

    2. Can anyone explain to me how comparing something to the holocaust is anti-Semitic? Can someone quote the line where she said Jewish people were bad?

Also, don’t forget to support Palestine for extra woke points, when you get done fighting anti-semitism.

    3. To let the people know. I for one will remember forever the silence from republicans. Hopefully seeing their inaction in the face of OBVIOUS anti semitism will lead to their votes removing these despicable creatures.

    4. It’s anti-Semitic to equate Israel with the Jewish people. A great deal of Jewish people feel Israel is wrong in their treatment of the Palestinians. What she did was belittle and diminish the horrors that the Jewish people have gone through. If you don’t see how that’s anti-semitic, that’s a you thing.

  6. If a US educator spoke like that, they’d lose their job, yet a Congressperson doesn’t get a slap on the hand.

    1. @The Editor. On the contrary, the “right” accepts all religious groups, and, they embrace homosexuality. They draw the line at killing our unborn children.

    2. @Cathy Courtney Most people embrace most religions and homosexuality but the politicians on the right don’t vote that way. They seem to try and strick down every legislation aimed at giving the LGBT community equal rights.

    3. @Pat Roscher I can’t agree or disagree with you. I would like to know how LGBT are discriminated against anymore after so much has gone to make all things equal.

  7. I wonder if the woman has ever opened a law book? She would be surprised to find that there are a lot of things she cannot do in this free country of hers.

    1. She, like her GOP comrades, fails to acknowledge the Responsibility that forms the backbone of every single one of her Rights. Like the responsibility to do everything she can to help contain a pandemic that is killing Americans at a ridiculous rate.

    2. During the tour which the Peel Commission did in Palestine in 1937, Ben-Gurion told the commission that the Bible was the Jewish people’s “Mandate.” (One Palestine Complete, p. 401)

A month after the Nazi pogrom against Germany’s Jews, famously known as Kristallnacht, Ben-Gurion provided an interesting mathematical formula for saving German Jewish kids. He stated in December 1938:

“If I knew it was possible to save all [Jewish] children of Germany by their transfer to England and only half of them by transferring them to Eretz-Yisrael, I would choose the latter—-because we are faced not only with the accounting of these [Jewish] children but also with the historical accounting of the Jewish People.” (Righteous Victims, p. 162)

And in December 1942, Ben-Gurion (who was the chairman of the Jewish Agency) also commented on the Holocaust:

“The catastrophe of European Jewry is not, in a direct manner, my business. . . . The destruction of the European Jewry is the death-knell of Zionism.” (Righteous Victims, p. 162-163)

In October 1882, Validimir Dubnow, one of the earliest Zionist pioneers in Palestine, wrote to his brother articulating the ultimate goals of the Zionists movement:

“The ultimate goal . . . is, in time, to take over the Land of Israel and to restore to the Jews the political independence they have been deprived of for these two thousand years. . . . The Jews will yet arise and, arms in hand (if need be), declare that they are the masters of their ancient homeland.” (Righteous Victims, p. 49)

In 1938, Ben-Gurion made it clear that his support for the establishment of the Jewish state in part of Palestine was only as an intermediary stage. Note how he uses the phrase “Eretz Yisrael” or “Land of Israel” in reference to the Biblical Map, he wrote:

    3. In Texas, I had to keep my vaccine record up to date or would not be able to attend public school. Same for college in Minnesota. You’re free to choose not to get vaccinated but you may have to trade it for other freedoms. If you refuse to shower and clean your clothes your employer has the right to fire you. You’re free to make many choices but not free of the consequences.

    4. @Craig Schafferman I am well beyond figuring out why Lady Liberty’s carpet dont seem to match the drapes.
There are millions of us with you.
We SEE them bringing back or washing clean the worst of Hollywood.
We SEE them harvesting grannys pensions (markets) like the Nanny bot from the Matrix.
We SEE them now and I think they are pretty scared.

They banned about 25 of my comments today in their attemps to rewrite history.

But it all goes wrong for them because we SEE THEM doing it, so they can ban us all they want.✊😎

    1. @Nick People like ME are leading the charge against the banking class YOU are defending.
Not ALL of us are comfortable paying 50 bucks for our “out the case steaks” so a blue and white star state can get TRILLIONS a year.
By STARVING the people on our own shores.

      Your probably not American anyway.

  8. Our tempers flare. Our minds are shocked. Our hearts are heavy. We’re through! She’s GOT to GO. We feel helpless. Anomi. We hear and see such craziness that it’s making us feel crazy. Her intent is to insult, destroy and cash in.

  9. We need a media to ask tougher questions. Couldn’t that reporter say, with all respect you didn’t answer the question.

  10. The lack of response by the Republican leadership is telling of what their party has become.

    1. When you get done fighting anti-semitism. Don’t forget to support Palestine for bonus woke points.

    2. The Republican ‘leadership’ is waiting for THEIR leader (you know who) to respond first.

    1. Imagine her and Turd Qruz floating together with Boebert and that whole klan…and keep flushing!!

  11. I lived in Europe and found it important to visit the Berlin wall, after it came down, and Dachau, the concentration camp, because I thought it was important to see the site of something that should never happen again and pay my respects. I took pictures of the floor to ceiling pictures of the massacre that took place regularly on a daily basis there because I thought people I knew should see it so they understood what should never happen again. The words coming out of her mouth are overwhelming horrific after what I saw, in pictures 60 years after it happened that I can not express my condolences and apologies to those who own that history for this disgusting being that has a say in your daily lives to speak so flippantly comparing a piece of cloth. I am so sorry.

    1. You live in Europe? Almost EVERYONE in YT comments is in Britain or the Continent. You’re just talking to each other. Very few Americans here. Lol.

  12. Oh my God she is absolutely horrific. Sadly the House will not censure her and she will probably raise even more money from the crazed followers of the previous fool.

    1. @Reese Herrmann I agree and both sides have crazy people you have to ignore if you want to actually discuss anything but it just seems like people use their party and leader as swords and shields to go to war with the other side anymore

    2. 10cody7 it’s all on purpose man, we only talk about the leaders and radicals because we only hear about the leaders and radicals.

People like to pretend they’re so censored on both sides (mostly the right) but realistically the one perspective you never get to hear just so happens to be the most popular perspective, that of left and right wing moderates

  13. She would learn nothing. She would go on and on saying asinine, demented things loudly, getting as much attention as possible. She needs to go away and live with her children.

    1. You are right. She will not learn anything. Already “knows it all” . This is so dangerous!!! What next?

  14. I really can’t comprehend how some of these people actually got voted into office!!! Doesn’t say much for our educational system!! Just a thought!

    1. @A.G. Slutburger what? 2 day old account troll, you in every comment talking about adult books Mr copy paste 😁

    2. that is why socrates said democracy without education is a bad idea …I mean you wouldn’t call a plumber to fix your car so why do we ask citizens that know nothing about these politicians to decide if they get elected

    3. It’s crazy! Funny how it’s the same state that brought you two democrat senators….Georgia.

    4. @Adam G She did have an opponent. A doctor who shared her same republican views but he drew the line at crazy. He didn’t support Qanon, and MTG was touting guns in her adds. That’s all their base is about: “white Americans first, don’t tell me what to do, don’t help anybody else”.

  15. Is there really no way to remove or censure her? This is criminal inaction on the part of the people who have the power to take her off her platform

  16. I’m absolutely speechless. They’re worried about Liz Cheney when this fruit balls still around.

    1. Republican leaders are fascists. They support her craziness, because she fights for the destruction of democracy.

  17. Fox news viewers are praising her and telling her to keep speaking “truth”. Just as appalled as we are, many are praising her and encouraging her to continue speaking up. This, sadly, emboldens her to continue her craziness.

    1. I don’t think Fox news would show the tape and text of MTG’s utterly stupid comment. I hate to say it but people in the South are known to be ignorant (general sense). There’s a lot more prejudice in the South via the history we all know.

  18. Seriously, our system is utterly broken when we cannot simply remove elected officials that are a clear and present danger to our democracy and it’s own citizens.

    1. Yeah. It’s a shame our government isn’t structured to where she can be out numbered 434 to 1. She has sooooo much power!
