  1. “The archive saying something is classified doesn’t mean that it is.”
No, that’s LITERALLY what it means. If the archive says a thing is classified, then it is 100% classified, and the theft of that material is a federal crime.

    1. @c. j. macq Seems like you’re the one obsessed with him. I’m just a casual fan, but I’m liking the guy more everyday. Especially when he sets people like you off.

    2. @Tony the Archives manage documents, which means they need to know if those documents are classified or not so that they get managed correctly. They aren’t the ones determining the classification, sure, but that doesn’t make the original comment wrong.

    1. @Chinedu Opara Not entirely. Remember – his “base” is the minority (they only win by cheating). By being an obvious liar he’s trying to scare decent, honest people – and he is succeeding. It is a time honored Fascist technique. He is saying out loud, “Sure I’m a liar? What are you going to do about it?”

  2. “Anyone being investigated by the FBI is not qualified to be the president of the United States”
    -Donald Trump August 2015

  3. Dozens of boxes already seized means nothing to this guy. It’s a “minor” issue!

So the law doesn’t apply if you say you might run for office.

  4. Seen from abroad, I find this man’s argumentation totally insane: so when a president is in office and breaks the law, he is untouchable. Ok. And when he has become a private citizen claiming that he is running again, then he is still untouchable because any action against him is considered as a political witch hunt by his (potential future) opponent… hmmm.
The former president has committed many crimes, as has been revealed by the J6 committee and at least one of them was recorded.
Is your DOJ waiting for a signed confession, or are indeed former presidents (and congressmen) above the law, as seems to be the case? You should state it once and for all – at least, it would be clear for everyone.

  5. I understand the essence of the argument that we don’t treat former presidents in this way. However, what if a former president committed a crime? That is what is unprecedented. To twist this into “he was a political rival” doesn’t make sense. Biden already won, over a year ago. He doesn’t need to do anything to a rival to hurt his chances. If Trump is still holding onto presidential property of the National Archives, he is committing a crime. He may have been ignorant of that law, but he was informed, so he is at least being negligent. The scary idea is that he sold ideas of national security to a foreign government — or worse, he has some documents that Trump himself could use against a rival.

  6. Let me state this loud and clear! They are not above the law. Just because it has never been done doesn’t mean that it is not legal. Hell, it happens to ordinary citizens all the time and no one is outraged.

    1. The first person in this country that was charged with stealing a car said the same thing. “No one in history has ever been charged with Grand Theft Auto, so why me!?” Uh, you were the first person we ever caught stealing a car. Get in the cell.

    1. This guy sits on the intelligence committee YET doesn’t know that classified documents are missing?!
      Good job.
      🤦‍♀️

    2. This clown is a national security threat just like dangerous Donald. He’s handling the Intelligence Committee, which is deeply troubling. Tsk! Tsk!

  7. These politicians do the same things always trying to blame someone else or compare what they are doing to someone else

  8. ‘This has never been done in our history’ is a ‘non-argument’ in any discussion. It feels like Rep. Mike Turner is just trying to talk him into Trumps good graces.

    1. Exactly. “It’s unprecedented”. Yes it is. Because the crook we got in electing Trump was unprecedented.

  9. Sir, with due respect…in history, we have never had such a dangerous man as the President Of The United States.

    1. @Dale Murray Are you sure about that? Have you seen the end beneficiaries of that bill? Seems like quite a lot of billionaires will benefit from our higher taxes.

  10. I’m retired military and 5 of those yrs. I worked in Intelligence dealing with Top Secret Classified Documents. Prior to gaining access at each duty stations there were briefings reminding you how to deal with the materials you would be exposed to and potential consequences you faced if they were mishandled. After one briefing in Japan during the 80s my sponsor took me to a local gift shop off base where they had info pertaining to the Aircraft and mission information on things I couldn’t talk about. The question you must ask is if Trump willingly took these documents what he did do with them? Could any of that info cause damage to our national security? Imagine if your loved one is working undercover in a foreign country and document detailing his mission are leaked or a planned mission is sabotaged because the enemy knew all the details. Trump has access to all information as President but Hes still responsible to keep it secure until its declassified.

  11. It’s unbelieveable that he would imply that the administration is going after Trump using the DOJ, but when she asked to clarify whether this is what he believes, he says no and that she’s putting words into his mouth before continuing to press the very same point. The amount of word gymnastics and lack of accountability of what these GOP members say is incredible. And these people are voted into power!

  12. “This has never happened to an ex president before”. The first person who got caught robbing a bank said the same thing. 🤦‍♂️

  13. It’s crazy how he accused her of putting words in his mouth when she simply repeated what he said.
