She says here this new recommendation is based on evidence. Her main source of evidence is from WHO-approved sources. So, whatever WHO currently recommends is what Dr. Tam will recommend even if it contradicts previous WHO recommendations and her own WHO-based recommendations.

How well does a mask, which an average person will have worn for a month without sterilizing it, prevent illness?

@Kathy Drapak Im curious as to what you wash your mask with because as far as I know even after washing hands properly 7 times with regular soap there is still quite a bit of bacteria left so I have to assume its the same or harder to wash a mask because of tightly woven fabric
5318oo8 if you boil a mask that will do the trick fast. And the fatty enzymes surrounding the virus will break down quickly with contact to soap. Idk about the other bacteria left on your hands but the carona should die pretty quick with a simple 20 sec hand washing.
