As long as I can remember I’ve always said to myself, that the first lady isn’t about political affiliation but about class, morals and unity And Michelle Obama has these qualities in spades , and I am a former Republican!

America owes foundational Black Americans – those who are the direct descendants of the slaves who built America – for the $14tn of free labour they received from their ancestors, without recompense. The Founding Fathers knew this debt would come due. They wrote about the implications of not paying the debt. There is no “free money” being demanded.
If America had given every group of 4 slaves their 40 acres and mule; if America hadn’t destroyed Black businesses and homes every time Black people became prosperous, reparations wouldn’t even be on the agenda. Those slaves got NOTHING. Bupkiss. Meanwhile, every wronged nation was compensated. Black people paid reparations to Jews for the Holocaust. Black people had no role in the damned Holocaust. Ditto every bit of compensation we were made to pay. We weren’t involved but we paid anyway because we were part of the global pact.
All of this “We didn’t own slaves! We don’t owe you anything!”. Yes you do. You are living in a country built on the blood and bones of our ancestors. I’ve been unemployed for 8 years because of racism, homeless for 2 years, friends and family are divided and torn apart for political differences, had a heart attack, had a mental breakdown, attempted suicide, locked up in psychiatric mental lock up hospital for 4 weeks. @kingtut777 What state do you live in? How the states put the policies of the ACA into practice varied wildly. States like mine, (California) which fully implemented Obamacare was a very different set of circumstances then states that refused to allow Medicaid expansion and so denying people the assistance the program was designed to offer. My premium was a little more than half what it had been before and there was no change in my Kaiser Permanente coverage which I was a member of before and after. But do understand that it was very different when the Governors and statehouses of some states intentionally denied the expansion which was a part of the bill intended to make it possible to cut your premiums.
