Two points: 1) First why not wait until you can learn directly from the source about her living conditions rather than rely on heresay? This is sloppy reporting. 2) Secondly, whatever happened to refusing to negotiate with terrorists? Now every international traveler is a kidnapping target. Fortunately Ms. Briner was arrested in Russia. In Bali, like many countries, the penalty for possessing drugs is death, with people now serving life sentences.
How many Americans are over there that could come home as well. What’s so different in this case?
