@Ralph Deshon Before the coronvirus outbreak , US manufacturing was in recession. Germany was teetering on recession, China was slowing significantly. Arguably Trumps trade war played a part. Sept. 17 JP Morgan raised it’s overnight ending facility to 10%. The federal Reserve stepped in and took over the repo market, and at one time was guaranteeing up to 1.5 trillion per day. In October The Federal Reserve started QE of 60 billion per month. QE is stimulus used when the economy is slowing to quickly and or has slowed to much. The National Debt has risen from 20 trillion to 24.7 trillion today and that is without the stimulus. The national debt will be over 25 trillion without the effects of the pandemic by years end and with the pandemic may be over 30 trillion by years end. A large part of the national debt his from the tax cuts that benefited corporations and the wealthy. Corporations used the windfall they received from the tax cuts and did stock buybacks which did not benefit the economy, but did the stock market. However those stock buybacks leveraged the corporations to the hilt and now they are getting bailouts from the Federal Reserve. The economy is in a quagmire that will take years to recover from. Noureil Roubini says a depression could happen in the 2020’s from the debt bubble which is now inflating to historic highs.

That amount is about 2X in soybeans and 6X in pork from 2019. China has major food safety problems and the USA (Tyson, Midwestern) does too! There is plenty of blame to go around.
