The Moscow Police Department gave an update on the murders of four University of Idaho students found in their home.

Authorities investigating the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students as they slept in a house near campus asked for patience Sunday after a week passed with no arrests and residents of this small college town remain on edge and concerned about their safety.
Authorities at a news conference on campus said they have no suspect or weapon in the Nov. 13 killings that shook Moscow, a town of 25,000 residents in the Idaho Panhandle. Students and residents have expressed concern about a lack of details from police, who initially said there was no danger to the public but a few days later walked that back by acknowledging they couldn’t say there was no threat.
“We know that people want answers — we want answers, too,” Idaho State Police Col. Kedrick Wills said. “Please be patient as we work through this investigation. We owe this to these young kids. To these young adults. We owe it to them. And we’re absolutely dedicated to make sure that that happens.”

@Verbal that’s fair, and you make a great point, it was reported that the “person” went systematically through the house looking for the 1 target… but if he was familiar with the place why was he looking for that person? You can see through all the house windows basically… that confused me
Also you mention that they were more proficient with the knife than maybe I was considering… I’ll have to think on that, food for thought!
Do you think the lack of lights being on and the adrenalin would account for accuracy issues?
@Jacqueline Consitt so at this point all of my opinions are based solely on my story of what happened not what actually happened because we just don’t yet. That said, I imagine the type of mind that is capable of such an involved and time consuming criminal acts is not equal to someone who stumbles into a lifetime of felonious behavior. This person has been working up the courage for a while, imo. If I had to guess they’re probably versed in hunting, potentially has a nice rack room. I don’t think adrenaline is an issue for hunters so I imagine it wasn’t an issue here, it also explains accuracy. The lights being out doesn’t mean absence of light so I don’t think it was an issue here. From plug in diffusers, salt rocks, lava lamps, whatever, it makes sense to me they’d be able to see sufficiently.
Disclaimer: I literally have no clue! I’m just putting together what makes sense from where I’m sitting…🙂

@Verbal Interesting… you make a lot of good points, ones I had not thought of. I think your guess is as good as any of ours 👍🏼 the point about hunting is interesting, I’m not well versed on weapons so I would have to consider it from that point of view.. going to have to sleep on a few of these, I want to make sure I explore all view points 👌🏻

That only helps if the murderer has been arrested before AND had DNA samples taken. Otherwise, it doesn’t help until if/when they catch them and compare.

@Verbal – now days many people do dna tests… so it isn’t only criminals with traceable dna.
@J2muw66 that’s right, the difference being where to look for a match. I suggested ancestry and 23andMe, but you’re right there’s many places they can look they’re just not guaranteed to find a match. Most people think if there’s dna evidence that automatically identifies the suspect and that is wholly untrue.
So had to be some one that knew them.

….. Because they were asleep, someone stabbed them, they woke up and instinctively tried to defend themselves. It’s really not that hard to fathom.

This sounds like a movie from the early 80’s.
There was likely one target, and the reason 4 were killed is because the killer kept murdering until he found the target. Going room to room not knowing exactly which room the target was in. That would explain why he stopped at 4 and didn’t kill the other two, because whoever was the fourth was the target he was looking for.
The two unkilled had locked their doors. They were on the first floor.. I think I heard elsewhere.
