Five quick-thinking rail workers spotted a toddler on the train tracks and sprung into action, and now they've been recognized for their rescue efforts. Train operator William Kennedy sent out an emergency radio communication to nearby train crews when he noticed a young child was on the track April 6 near Tarrytown, New York, according to a Metropolitan Transportation Authority news release. That’s when engineers aboard northbound Train 737 stopped the train.

The crew continued the route at a slow speed until they got a better look around a curve. Once they realized it was the child, Assistant Conductor Marcus Higgins quickly jumped off the train to rescue the 3-year-old boy, whose mother said he has autism. The child was near a fence on top of an electrified rail.

  1. That innocent vulnerable child. Please keep him safe and protected. Thankyou railroad employees for doing the right thing.
We live in a callous world.
Good to know some humans still show compassion.
    I hope there is a follow-up story.

    God protect him.

  2. I think they left him on the tracks!!!🤔 She walked up like”OMG baby your still alive”🙄 js, a three-year-old just took off and ran and sat on the tracks!!!🤨

    1. @Just Glee just look at the world we live in 😳, and even you must admit it’s a very odd situation, it’s a three-year-old not a teenager!!! Js🤷🏻

    2. @Shawn Ortmann Exactly. The kid could’ve been kidnapped. I’m not saying he’s there on accident, I’m saying you don’t know how he got there. Did you even read my reply?
