‘Star Wars’ fan’s real lightsaber earns Guinness World Record | USA TODAY

"Star Wars" fan and Russian YouTuber Alex Burkan was recognized by Guinness World Records for creating the world's first retractable lightsaber.

Alex Burkan, behind the YouTube channel Alex Lab, was recognized by Guinness World Records for the over 3 foot plasma blade that reaches temperatures over 5,072 degrees Fahrenheit and can cut through steel, according to a news release.

  1. That isn’t a light saber though…
    Guiness is going down-hill like the rest of the world.
    Also, to be a light saber this would need its own continuous energy source, one that lasts over 30 seconds..
    Also, to be a light saber it would need to cut into and/or through physical objects with the force of its energy and the striking force of the user.
    What a joke..
