Sherrell, R-Sparta, made the suggestion during the criminal justice committee meeting Tuesday while lawmakers discussed HB1245 and an amendment to the bill that would allow for death by firing squad as an execution method in Tennessee.

"I was just wondering, could I put an amendment on that that would include hanging by a tree, also," Sherrell asked during the meeting Tuesday.

He then offered to sign as a co-sponsor to the bill.

  1. Death by firing squad is too much too…barbaric. Hanging by tree? Disgusting. Need to vote some of these people out of their position. Glad he apologized just was very distasteful

  2. Unbelievable, is all I can think of, maybe shocked…… just goes to show there are still sick ppl in places they shouldn’t be!!! 🤷🏻‍♀️
