The rise and fall of RT America, a Russia-backed TV network

RT America sold conspiracy theories and alternative facts under the slogan "Question More." Now it's a casualty of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Reality Check's John Avlon talks with CNN media correspondent Oliver Darcy about how RT America pushed misinformation to the far right and far left – and what can be done to stop propaganda from spreading. #CNN #News

    1. CNN, how is your Russian ‘analyst’ Golodryga? 🤣 CNN is ruled by Russian analytics, ya?

  1. I questioned their motives and quit watching when they kept talking smack about Hillary but had nothing to say about trump.

  2. Watching news from many sources round the world is valuable, if you’re mature you can form your own opinions. It’s watching only a single news source that is more concerning.

    1. True. But there are far better alternate viewpoints out there than those sponsored by totalitarian regimes. I mean Hitler made points about American racial prejudice and hypocrisy, and borrowed some US genocidal techniques, but was a daily dose of Goebbels a good use of one’s time to stay informed?

    2. More doesn’t matter, you just need to watch sources that tells the truth and tells where there is unknown. I suggest TV channels like BBC and those of state supported channels in the Nordic countries. Slow news from such places are also very good. They don’t live that much on sensations and have no problem bitching over their own governments.

Btw, you will not learn about the world by watching news. First you need to know about the world, and then you can disseminate the news that comes your way, so you can keep up to date about the world.

    1. @Kyrie DaCrybaby You are incredibly naive. Chris Wallace, as well as practically every other so called journalist on cable news is biased.

    1. @Skydaddy Myth-Busters I agree with you on the sky daddy part…..Do you support the groomer Disney community?

    1. @Alstroemeria227 again atleast western public held several protests and lobbied against America’s wars. Unlike Russia, which jails people for 15 years just for calling Putin’s war a war. Your attempts to equate both are laughable. Make Russia liberal and open as the west and we’ll talk.

  4. That’s the same thing in the United States when political parties owned news agencies we’re no different than China or Russia

    1. It’s worse. They are co-opted by corporations, banks, and the military industrial complex.

  5. CNN+ is shutting down after one month 🤣 200 million dollars down the tube … and 100 million in promotion 👍🏻 Way to go, CNN

  6. I’ve watched RT clips that I found to be informative. I always go a step further and research issues news that outlets report on. The problem is that it seems as though most people get their “truth” from one angle and discount as fake anything they don’t agree with.

  7. “We are hurtling back into a Soviet abyss, into an information vacuum that spells death from our own ignorance. All we have left is the internet, where information is still freely available. For the rest, if you want to go on working as a journalist, it’s total servility to Putin. Otherwise, it can be death, the bullet, poison, or trial—whatever our special services, Putin’s guard dogs, see fit.” ― Anna Politkovskaya

Just as relevant today as it was in 2005
