Tyre Nichols death: Protesters take to streets across America demanding police reform

The family of Tyre Nichols asked for peaceful protests across the country following the release of video showing Memphis police violently beating him.

Protests were held in Memphis and cities across the country Friday and more demonstrations are planned for the weekend as the nation reacted to brutal footage of the killing of Tyre Nichols at the hands of Memphis police.

Demonstrators were already taking to the streets in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon and local news outlets across the country reported on protests planned for Saturday in New York City, Memphis, Baltimore, Charlotte, Newark, Dallas and Raleigh, among other major cities.

Protests remained mostly peaceful Friday night as people rallied after officials in Memphis released disturbing video of the fatal police beating of Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man who died three days after a traffic stop on Jan. 7.

  1. After the killers had already been charged, people of this strand will use whatever excuse to make others peoples lives miserable.

    1. Putting a bucket under a leaky faucet does not solve the problem, it only prolongs it. Cops have been increasingly killing more and more innocent people. THERE IS A NEED FOR REFORM.

    2. People are frustrated that this happens over and over again. Did the firing of these five means that the murder of innocent, unarmed citizens won’t happen again?

    3. Antifa, black lives matters, ex-cons, opportunitist, young people that think it is exciting.
And worst ones our corrupt swamp government that get what ever corrupt
agents that will go instigate to agitate the people to go rioting etc.
One that stands out on January 6th was Roy Epps telling the people let’s go do it he supposedly f b.i.

  2. Nothing actually has happened. In Tampa Florida we just had gasparilla and everyone was happy and drunk! The media tried very hard to push the narrative lol

  3. People need new TV’s and Laptops, and all the necessary things for living well!!!……it is time to get them!!!…can you blame them??? It is a new lifestyle. You better get used to it.

  4. Imagine if these same people would come out to the street and protest everytime a young brother is gun down by another brother in every inner cities here in America…Now that would definitely create a change….. But nope…. complete silence

    1. @JJE bootlicker?..lol .. …how to fix the problem?? I don’t have the answer, but you can start with following the law….education, and stop the cycle of single parent household which can have a high chance that lead to gang, violence and prison….how about we start there

    2. @buckhaa1502
That’s obvious, and I actually said this to everyone I know around me. I recognize his mistake by giving them that chance to become the target of their personal frustrations. I would’ve complied from the start, that doesn’t mean the cops are justified for the beating that came afterwards.

    3. @JJE no one is say that the cops are justified for beating someone that doesn’t comply…no one….what I’m saying is once you start resisting, the situation had just escalated and bad things can happened when everyone’s emotion is at level 10, including the cops and the person ..

  5. I live in memphis and it is chill here. Everyone in these big cities need chill with the violence. The cops were sick human beings in this tragedy but the police department fired them and charged them

    1. @Jon Mendez no, does lethal injection or lifelong incarceration keep people from murdering?
Do deaths by OD keep people from doing drugs?
Hikers die every year and people still hike
Skin cancer kills yet people still flock to the beach or pool
      Get my point sir?

  6. Stupid ppl with emotional responses. Logic over emotion ppl. This is y masculinity is important. Practice discipline and stoicism.

  7. There will always be a riot when this happens. The cops were punished, but there will always be a riot. No special training would have stopped that cop from doing that. We are dealing with humans and things are going to happen. This was completely wrong on the cops part, but the rioting doesn’t help anything.

  8. I wish there was some way could pre-declare that I give no one permission to release my child’s last moments, or my last moments, to the general public for any reason.

I don’t blame the families that do give permission. But I feel like alot of them aren’t even asked.

And I feel like when these videos are released, they don’t secure any more justice than if they hadn’t been….

    1. Because without the release of the video, there is a large percentage of chuds who will declare that there is no way it was as bad as it was and still support the police.

And may, just maybe, people are right to be pissed off at the cops.

  9. People are just looking for an excuse to set everything on fire and bring about chaos. Very sad to see this.

  10. I am hearing that Memphis decided to reduce standards in hiring practices to help with staffing shortages and increasing diversity hires after the Floyd riots. Is that true?

    1. On long Island ny cops make 140k after 20 yrs and they had to start hiring people with criminal records because they couldn’t find enough black people for diversity rewuirments

  11. The senseless brutal beating of Tyre Nichols that lead to his death is beyond incomprehensible, reckless, and disgusting. The five x-officers, possessing criminal and gang mentality, who beat the victim to the pulp, deserve more than life in prison. It is appalling, terrifying, and sickening that we have so many bullies behind badges hiding in police departments all over the country. I can’t begin to imagine the pain and suffering his family is experiencing. My best condolences go to the victim’s family and friends. We need full justice for Tyre Nichols. RIP Tyre Nichols.

    1. Maybe these people should concern themselves with the mass murder of the unborn in this country. Their efforts could go a long way in stopping that carnage. But I suspect they are pro-abortion and that makes them no different than those cops!

  12. The mayor that gives every person that wants a career in law enforcement a lie detector test before being hired, should teach every city in the nation his processes. He weeds out the people that want this profession for the wrong reasons.

  13. What happened to that young man is outrageous…. There is something inherently wrong in the USA, the police are trained to act like thugs….

    1. You mean inherently wrong with black people. The only race that fecks with cops and then can’t understand why the get lit.

  14. Didn’t Tyre Nichole’s mother have an abortion? So, she did the same thing to her child as the cops did to her other one. Hers was probably a more brutal act!
