A Mississippi grand jury declined to indict the white woman whose accusation led to the kidnapping and death of Emmett Till in 1955, making it unlikely she will ever be prosecuted for her role in the lynching that fueled the civil rights movement.

A grand jury in Leflore County listened to more than seven hours of testimony from investigators and witnesses last week before determining there was insufficient evidence to indict Carolyn Bryant Donham, 87, on charges of kidnapping and manslaughter. It's the second time a grand jury has heard evidence against Donham, according to a news release from W. Dewayne Richardson, the county district attorney.

  1. Oh “you’re playing the races card” Ironic because ppl say when race is brought up… Tend to shy away from it.. you use all of our lingo and act like YOU invented it.. as a Marine.. who joined just after 9/11 I don’t know what I’m looking at anymore

    1. @g bridgman there’s no statute of limitations on murder, accessory to murder, lying under oath, inciting a mob, or filing a false police report… don’t act like justice shouldn’t be serviced no matter the timeframe of any crime. That’s foolish thinking.

  2. 🤯🤬💔. Evil thing. Still getting away with murder of an innocent child. RIP Emmett. ❤️

  3. I wouldn’t expect it to go any other way 😞🤷🏾‍♀️ I take peace in knowing she will have to meet her maker one day and everyone else that played apart in slavery and evilness towards someone because they look different. We all bleed the same color blood we are no better than the next. Everyone that has hate this deep in them will be set free one day and then judge accordingly to their fate in the afterlife. 🙏🏾.

    1. There’s tons of information on this case available. It’s easy to research. The article in Look magazine a year later when the two men confessed is even out there.

    2. Nothing! Nothing Nothing excuses the brutality and torture that child went through!! Reading between the lines??!!! Go to HELL 🤬🖕

    1. It’s the principle of it though. This lady is vile and I hope she has to spend the rest of her miserable days inside cooped up and afraid for her life!

  4. Anyone involved in this disgusting event before, during and after are absolute dreadful human beings. It’s vile that no one served a second of time for this desecration of an innocent young man.

  5. Sadly this is exactly what I expected considering the fact that Mississippi didn’t outlaw slavery until 2013.
