Re: Objections to Foul and Untruthful Claims By Senator Charles

 

Madame President:

            On Thursday, December 17, 2009, during the televised session of the Upper House, Senator Elmore Charles published several foul, untruthful and libelous claims concerning me which were broadcast for all to hear. The broadcast statements would subject Senator Charles to liability for slander did he not enjoy immunity against lawsuits for statements made in parliamentary debates. The object of the immunity is not to grant a license to abuse fellow parliamentarians; in fact, all parliamentarians are forbidden to impute bad motives to colleagues.

‘Iranian cyber army’ hits Twitter

Twitter has been hit by an embarrassing security breach.

A group claiming to be the Iranian Cyber Army managed to redirect Twitter users to its own site displaying a political message.

Twitter said the attack had been carried out by getting at the servers that tell web browsers where to find particular sites.

The site said it would start an investigation into what allowed the “unplanned downtime” to take place.

PRESS STATEMENT

The negotiations between the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) and the Government of Dominica represented by the Government Negotiating Team which is made up of the Secretary to the Cabinet, the Financial Secretary and the Chief Personnel Officer (Ag.) commenced on November 13, 2009.

At this meeting the Government Negotiating Team explained that the current global economic and financial situation of the country was a significant determinant in developing Government’s proposal for the 2009/2012 triennium. The other major determinant was the need to restructure the public service to increase efficiency. This is being done through a Human Resource Consultancy which is currently ongoing.

CONSTRUCTION WORKS ON SEGMENT 10 OF WAITUKUBULI NATIONAL TRAIL PROJECT NOW UNDERWAY

Roseau, Dominica – December 16, 2009 ………..  The Waitukubuli National Trail Project has reached an important stage with the resumption of Construction Works. Trail Construction works have begun on segment ten (10) Colihaut Heights to Syndicate.

A number of persons from Colihaut, Dublanc, Bioche and the environs started construction work on Monday, December 14th.

Construction Works began today, Wednesday, December 16th on segment one (1) – Scotts Head to Soufriere. Persons from the villages of Scotts Head, Soufriere, Gallion, Point Michel and the environs within  the vicinity of Segment One(1) have been recruited to work on the trail.
