  1. This should be a wake up call to the Jamaican artist and while some people are upset that SOJA won I overstand but in end Reagge music wins what I can say tho… is that once it’s a voting process that chooses who wins it’s going to be difficult for Jamaican artists to win this award because we have few people in high places that would influence the out come weather or not the music is good which I think that this is how the winner should be chosen but the music business is funny in this regard most times it’s who you have behind so to speak and that’s the harsh reality but the world knows that Reagge music is from Jamaica so no worries let them enjoy because a we dem a photo copy so a we still a win zeen.

    1. I’m 60 years of age, seeing Jacob Miller, Bob Marley, the list goes on, Spice and the other girls is selling ( sex ) I’m very you

  2. Jamaican conscious reggae have died out with the artist of the past, so gun, crime, dirty and evil lyrics which those foolish singers called reggae only put down the world and the people living in it….colour is colorful so likewise music should always be too

  3. Reggae music has been known from to the world from time and memorial, it did not need a predominantly caucasian group to elevate its existence to the globe. There is a great deal of difference with the authentic Reggae music and the music produced by non-Africans. We’re all entitled to our opinions, I don’t believe this award should have been given for REGGAE music.

    1. Non Africans? What about all the Chinese and Indian jamaicans that have contributed to reggae?

  4. The real fact is that their are 2 genre of music in jamaica reggae the main then dancehall n they need to differentiate the 2 simple

  5. The only way a black man will win against a white man for example in boxing knocking him out cold, in a race you’re ten metres ahead!

Unity is the key to success. Don’t water down your culture to please anyone.

Love what you produce or else someone else will reap the benefits!

All too often I’m hearing I don’t like reggae; I love it! When they have a celebration they will not support the restaurant that cooks the food that they eat at home!

I will ask this question; do you see others celebrating in the eatery that makes your food? Hell no ! They support their own!

Wake up call! In the next fifty (50) years reggae will be originated from somewhere else other than Jamaica! Mercy!

Our ancestors struggles, inventions and creativities are in vain! SMH!!

  6. Well I think the Grammy academy was looking at the fact that Soja has the roots reggae sound over the four Jamaicans nominated….this is the reason y I think dancehall should be a separate genre from reggae. U definitely cannot put a hard core dancehall artiste like spice with roots reggae singer such as Etana, Soja or Koffee. Dancehall is from reggae, but its dancehall, it’s not reggae. Roots reggae sounds will always be identified n honored a whole lot more in the Grammies than hard core dancehall. Face facts. The world loves a Marley-like sound. Jamaica n the Caribbean may be more influenced by dancehall music…but the world on a whole loves Bob Marley, n will always more intense with music that sounds like a Bob Marley.

    2. thats the thing people love bob marley because of the lyrical sustenance, sean paul is a lightweight compared to soja, and soja is lightweight compared to groundation

  7. Reggae is obsolete…. it died when it became commercialized and not when it was about the message…. in a way jamaican music has evolved and has always been true to form as a medium for the poor masses to express themselves….. Reggae was the 70’s, Dancehall was the 80’s, now it’s Trap, Fusion, Attitude and Fashion…. it has moved on.

  10. Jamaican artists should be ashame of themselves because they do not unite, they hype on each other as soon as they see a little light. That band Soja that win are around for years and very humble doing reggae music. So those loud mouth Jamaicans need to sit, listen and learn from Soja

  11. Congratulations soja you guy have seen the value in the Jamaica’s authentic reggae music while these idiots that call themselves artists are trying to water down the music and now that things doesn’t go their way they want it they are complaining smh

  12. Am from Jamaica living in Jamaica and am happy about this… because Jamaican think it’s okay to get up and sing rubbish all day every day and think thay should still win….and what’s worst Jamaican system accept just about every and any rubbish that comes along to s sing/ promote violence
