  1. What I’ve learned is not only voting for presidential candidates but most definitely are the smaller candidates the lawmakers. And when I don’t know the names of the candidates I do as much research as possible.

    1. @Ana Maria Guadayol doesn’t matter murder is not a race or gender or anything except murder and using vague terms like gun violence or gun deaths or assault weapon your part of the problem and saying oh this many is ok

    2. That’s commendable! Cause most people just go with who has the best hair or who didn’t hurt their tender feelings. And THAT is what screws the system up. Too damn many people get to Vote

    1. To capture amazing moments like a member peeing on another member’s chair…
Glorious, will live onto the internet forever making the entire country the center of a billion jokes that’s gonna spark.. 😳😳😳🤦‍♀️

But hey, I don’t mind. Let’s put the cameras in.

    2. You people kill me. You know how many people watch C-SPAN? Neither do I – my guess is three. I was one of them once, twelve years ago.

  2. with people like that, the only thing they will learn is to be hypocrites in front of the camera. people need to vote for better human beings

    1. Oh yes..i.e. the old white guy by the entrance door…the look on his face says it all…it’s like a S. African Gentlemen’s Club in Apartheid days. I’m an old white lady and he made ME sick!

  3. Honestly! How many politicians actually really care about the Safty of the Lives of their Constituents???

    1. Oh wow, so, we all care about local politics now? I’ll come back in a couple weeks, see if you’re so convicted then.

    2. There used to be, but then people stopped buying newspapers. If people demand it and actually watch what is going on, then maybe journalists will get hired back.

  4. Gerrymandering should be outlawed and independent nonpartisan Election Agencies created to determine Federal and State voting Districts.

    1. @Mike19737 It should be non partisan but it’s not, it’s the very definition of partisanship.

    2. Gerrymandering can be “outlawed” by the voters of a state, at least it has been in some states. I don’t know how easy it is to get a statewide initiative on the ballot in all states, but look into it!

  5. We live n a evil upsidedown world of corrupt, violent, racist, abuse of power an lies, God, family, country, truth, love, unity, godbless the Tennessee 6, the actual victims

    1. @MammaDuck Hoka hey! Truly spoken, MD, for I too, for other reasons, refused to be a victim and that simple act saved me. I forgave them all and moved on with life, to love and thrive as a result. That said, there ARE those who don’t want others to thrive and you have rightfully named a few that demand attention. It’s sad because it appears necessary.
Many years ago, I lived in a place named Prince Rupert and loved a young man from there, got to know and love his family too and was made to feel so welcome… it’s a shame I had to leave, but I believe as a result of that experience I learned to detect truth (and falsehood) in people and their thoughts in writing, and yours ring true. Hoka hey!

  6. Gloria Johnson is a real ally. Protect her at all costs. Real allies everywhere, step up and step out.

    1. @Jack Rich What makes you think she stood by? She’s been demonstrating and working with the Democratic caucus for ages. She helped get the statue of the KKK leader taken down. (Hard to believe others had to be sold on the idea, but they did.) She has been speaking out against racism and other bigotry all her career.

    2. @pechaa look she is part of the problem and maybe it’s other also but I have no doubt she is part of it and why things never get fixed and keeps on and my view she thinks she is superior

    3. @pechaa and yes those statues I’ve been saying but my guess she probably laugh or something but it should be zero tolerance

    4. Who is she helping other than herself?
I actually went and looked at their proposal the issue they talking about what they been solved nor prevented.

  7. I appreciate the work and support Gloria Johnson has been contributing toward the Justins Jones and Pearson.

    1. @Brad Ferguson they took away from them kids…Just to get in front of a camera and a trip to the worthless house…They solved nothing and they turned the attention from them poor kids to racism…They caused a much bigger issue than it was…U cant just speak out turn and get people fired up…Meanwhile what law was changed??? What justice was done for the families of the hate crime???

    2. This is how you act as an ally. You don’t steal someone’s voice, you use your privilege to amplify it.

  8. The #TN3 who were up for expulsion represent Shelby, Davidson & Knox County. Our 3 largest counties by population & sales tax revenue. Combined they make up 31% of the entire state population & 31% of sales tax revenue. The other 92 counties make up the remaining 69%. These 3 are speaking for areas that are most effected by inaction on health care, gun reform, wage stagnation, underfunded schools, etc. Their voices matter & thankfully the attempt to silence them for speaking out for the victims in their community has backfired.

    1. The #TN69 took a stand and said no you may not try to shut down our democracy and shut the operations of the legislature. I hope they learned a valuable lesson here.

    2. @A T The Tennessee Legislaturers who led the move that expelled these two strongly exagerated the length of time that thses three actually held up the process in the Legislature. In fact it was reported the three only took up a total of 10 minutes all together, in order to raise awareness for what is obviously a serious problem in Tennessee and across the nation. What they addressed and spoke up for *IS* a part of their job as public servants elected to represent the people who voted them into office and put them into the Tennessee Legislature. Trying to expel these individuals for doing their jobs on behalf of their constituents, as well as punishing them for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of speech sounds like something that ruling dictators in Russia, China, and North Korea would do, not a state in the United States of America.

  9. At Costco I witnessed a worker discriminating against a Latina mom and daughter, they asked for help the guy ignored them they tapped his shoulder and he gave them a smug face and reluctantly scanned their 2 for 1 muffins. Then a white elderly lady showed up and he was head over heels, he immediately rushed to help her and started laughing and giggling with her like if they were old buddies. I told this to a manager, the blatant discrimination based on race and the manager DENIED it and said since she didn’t “hear racist remarks” then there was no racism or discrimination. I told her racism doesn’t have to be words and it still very much exists today but people like HER blatantly deny it.

    1. I know it isn’t always easy, but I would have spoken up, being very polite, and saying something very obvious, like, “Excuse me, but it seems to me that this lady and her daughter need some assistance here.”

  10. I lived in South Carolina for many years and people keep asking why on earth I left. I can’t repeat some of the grossly racist things that have been said to me because repeating them would be too gross and offensive. And yet they were said to me because I appeared to be a cis, white woman of middle age, and therefore it obviously must be safe to say those things to me. So gross.

  11. State legislatures most DEFINITELY need more media coverage. I live in TN and almost never hear anything about the state house. Except whenever they do something that pisses people off. Hopefully people will start paying attention and we can vote some of these racist a-holes out of office.

  12. As a person of color, being discriminated against all my life by white privilege people who saw me as a threat, although highly qualified, earned multiple degrees and always was giving a salary way below any other Executive Director in my field, thank God for this woman stating what is blatant and factual.

When I was younger, a white perspective employer told me in a job interview that he couldn’t hire me because I would be pregnant and he needed someone reliable. I am 53 now although I know I look young. I never conceived a child, so I was never pregnant and never had abortions and never was married.

My highest degree that I earned was an MBA degree. I was labeled as an racial stereotype of a black women as a baby maker. I have so many LOST OPPORTUNITIES as an intelligent, attractive black women.
