As a recently registered democrat, I could vote for Kinzinger. Both he and Liz Cheney have taken on great personal risks participating on the Jan 6 committee, prioritizing our democracy over party! Now, we just need to open up primary elections to everyone.

You’d just vote for the Democrat candidate and it’s not like either of those two war lovers would stand a chance to begin with.
As others have pointed out, Kinsinger voted heavily in favor of Trump policies, so I am wondering how that might impact his chances. Likewise I question if that is truly his perspective or if he was obeying the party line at that time. If you interview him again it would be good to understand these aspects and if he is capable of putting a platform for more centrist conservatives. Thank you for the episode.

The point about the middle being “vastly under-represented in our two party system” is so true. If either party seized upon that it would be a huge win for them. Sensationalism, unfortunately, just happens to be much more lucrative.
Also, I don’t know how much Kinzinger’s view points are circulated in the conservative eco-chambers. To the rest of us it’s completely apparent that the new right is flirting with anti-democratic, authoritarian and anti-American ideas. It might just help to open some eyes for conservative media consumers to hear his point of view.
More important that is someone like Kinzinger running as a 3rd party candidate. He’s got plenty of time to get on all the important state ballots. And since the RNC is boycotting the debates, Biden (presumably) and the 3rd party candidate would be the only two on the TV debate stage. If the 3rd party candidate took a net 5% from the Republican side (e.g. 10% of R votes and 5% of D votes) , it would guarantee a Democratic win. Ross Perot won 19% in 1992.
He upholds the constitution … the rest cow down to the party no matter what…
If Kinzinger ran, I think it would be a great public service.

Kinzinger is not going to run in 2024. He’s all talk. All he does is troll. Tucker Carlson has invited Kinzinger on his show. Adam has refused. He only wants to go on shows that serve up softball questions. He doesn’t want to be challenged on these shows. Yes he is a Veteran and I respect his military service. But Adam is also a major troll, that’s all he wants to do is troll. He was making noise about possibly running against JB Pritzker. But Adam knew he’d get his butt handed to him. He’s afraid to criticize Pretzker & the Democrats. He’s not running in 2024
So, the democrats are staying oddly quiet.
