US AMBASSADOR DONATES FOUR VEHICLES TO THE POLICE FORCE

Roseau, Dominica – March  28, 2008……. Minister for National us_govt_donates_four_vehicles.jpgSecurity, Immigration and Labour, Hon. Rayburn Blackmoore has highlighted the strength and depth of the relationship between the Commonwealth of Dominica and the United States of America.

 

The Minister made the disclosure at a handing over of four vehicles by the United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Her Excellency, Mary Ourisman to the Government of Dominica  at the Police Training School at Morne Bruce recently.

 

” Today’s  event and today’s small ceremony undoubtedly represents a fine moment in the relationship between the United States of America  and the Government and  people of Dominica. One only needs to go back to the genesis of this relationship to get a true sense of its strength and magnitude,” Hon. Blackmoore commented.

“WHAT OIL AND NATURAL GAS HAVE DONE FOR PETROLEUM EXPORTING COUNTRIES, GEOTHERMAL ENERGY CAN DO FOR

Roseau, Dominica – March 19, 2008……. With the price of crude oil at a savarin_and_mondesire_at_geothermal_project_launch.jpgstaggering US $109 a barrel and rising, Dominica’s Minister for Energy, Hon. Charles Savarin believes that “what oil and natural gas have done for Petroleum exporting countries, geothermal energy can do for Dominica”.

 

Hon. Charles Savarin made that announcement recently at the Media Launch of a project entitled,” Preparation of a Geothermal-based Cross-Border Electrical Interconnection in the Caribbean”.

 

The Minister stated further that “potentially the development of the geothermal resources of Dominica could become the single most important economic activity on the island for decades to come”.

High Court Judge Davidson Baptiste has ruled in favour of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Sergeant at Arms and the Attorney General in a motion brought by six Opposition parliamentarians after they had been escorted out of Parliament on January 8, 2007 following a period of disorder in the House arising out of her decision to alter two of their questions on the Order Paper.

PRIME MINISTER SKERRIT HIGHLIGHTS THE CONTRIBUTION OF ROSS UNIVERSITY TO DOMINICA

skerrit_arrives_at_ross_university_feb_2008.jpgRoseau, Dominica – March 19, 2008………. On a visit to the Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth recently, Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit highlighted the contribution of the School to Dominica’s development.  

 

The Dominican Leader was invited to the School last month to assess for himself the recent expansion in new facilities at the university campus.

 

During the visit the Prime Minister officially opened the Campus Activities Centre and a new Post Office at the Ross University campus and held discussions with senior officials at the School.

 

Highlighting the contribution of Ross University to Dominica’s development, the Prime Minister said:
