Russia’s had severe sanctions imposed by the US and UN for years and it still hasn’t inhibited their willingness or ability to wage war in Ukraine and Syria. What makes the US think that Turkey will be any different, especially when they know that Russia will sell them oil, gas and weapons regardless of sanctions?
It’s too late to do anything.
Policies usually take awhile to take effect. Unless your policy comes from “Orange Bull in China shop” Trump. His bad decisions have instantaneous effect.
