New Canadian High Commissioner to Dominica pledges Canada’s continued support for the Caribbean Region

 

Roseau, Dominica – February 1, 2010…… President of Dominica, His Excellency, Dr. Nicholas Liverpool D.A.H. O.C.C has commended the Government of Canada for its prompt response to the plight of the people of Haiti in the aftermath of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake which devastated the Caribbean island leaving thousands dead and countless homeless.

CARICOM CHAIRMAN LEADS TEAM TO HAITI ON FRIDAY

IMPEDIMENTS AFFECTING SMOOTH IMPLEMENTATION OF CARICOM SINGLE MARKET AND ECONOMY IDENTIFIED

Roseau, Dominica – August 19, 2009………The  legislative and administrative impediments affecting the  smooth implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) in Dominica  were identified at a Review Meeting held in Roseau recently.

The Review Meeting also featured an overview/status of implementation of the CSME within the Member States of the Caribbean Community as a whole. The presentation was done by
Ms. Wanya Illes of the CSME Unit in Barbados. Dominica’s Director of Trade, Dr. Eisenhower Douglas delivered the opening remarks.

Mr. Gordon Moreau to Dominica’s development. Mr. Moreau, a chartered accountant by profession passed away on Thursday. Mr Savarin convened a press briefing on Thursday on learning of the passing of Mr. Moreau.

Track and Field and the Caribbean Men and Women

antigua_barbuda.jpgNothing beats success like success.  Now that Antigua and Barbuda has two athletes of world class standing, now that we have Daniel “Bakka” Bailey as the 4th fastest runner in the world, now that we have Brandon Christian as Pan Am Games Champion and a combatant in the semi-finals in the 200 meters in the World Championship in Berlin Germany most Antiguans and Barbudans identify with these two young men; we sing praises and the nations exhales and feels a sense of pride.
