  3. Mayor Pete Buttigieg, IS SO SMART & HAS A GREAT HEAD ON HIS SHOULDERS THAT COMES UP WITH GREAT SOLUTIONS TO THE QUESTIONS JAKE’S TRIES TO TRIP HIM HIM UP WITH. If he doesn’t become the next President, he should definitely stay in Politics & try again in 2024. He is too good to have to go away or see disappear from us. I hope he is in for the long haul! The old lying arse in the WH fooled alot of people but I think he got more help from Russia than is being known. B/C Hilary was winning & then she didn’t how did that happen without help. Anyways Sweet Mayor Pete would be a refreshing personality in the WH but I don’t think he is the one this time around. But if he were I’d go get me a pride flag & have a dress made. We are all humans that bleed the same color love the same & feel what’s right & what’s wrong. And what we have now is so wrong b/c we were cheated for him to get in the WH.     2. Nothing will change because politicians and media lie for their political agendas. Let’s just look at gun homicides because that’s what the debate is always over. There was 13,054 gun homicides in 2018. The CDC says out of those homicides 80% are gang related. No one disagrees on that. 80% of 13,054 is 10,443. Now take out 268 for mass shootings that leaves 2,343 gun homicides in 2018. The media or politicians never break the numbers down. We should give up our rights for what? You can’t count the gang homicides because they are not going to follow the any laws passed and already get their guns illegally. Americans should give up their rights because very few people, when you remember we have over 300 million people decided to kill someone. America isn’t even in top hundred for highest murder rate of country. It doesn’t make since. Number show we have a gang problem. Think about not just the murders they commit but all the drugs they are dealing that’s kills thousands more than guns. CDC did study under Obama administration about gun self defense and it showed guns save between 500,000 to 3 million people lives every year. Media doesn’t talk about that either.

Mayor Pete, leading the charge for real change: Plans that address and resolve some of the most obvious of failings of current (ease of legal weapon procurement [background checks, gun show loophole, etc.], as well as assault weapons bans [semi-automatics, high-capacity magazines, conversion kits, “80% lowers”, “ghost guns” and milling equipment capable of producing these completely untraceable weapons of maximum carnage, etc.]).

    Aside from the lack of licensing requirements (you need a license to legally drive a vehicle, but not one to own something capable of lethal force), a complete ban on assault-style weapons is absolutely needed.

    There’s no reason for anyone not serving in a theater of war to own and/or possess firearms such as the AR-15 and all its many variants. For the benefit of those unaware of what an AR-15 is, it’s the firearm upon which the mainstays of the U.S. military, the M16 and M4, are derived. With the exception of fully automatic mode, the differences between these firearms are of little to no consequence.

    That’s right. The firearm that U.S. and NATO soldiers use to maximize causalities of enemy combatants is essentially the same rifle (without full-auto capability) that our fellow citizens own. Presumably for self-protection under a right guaranteed to all to bear arms.

    Fun fact: While magazines capable of carrying up to 100 rounds are legally available for the AR-15, the latest standard-issue M16/M4 magazine holds 30 rounds.

    Right again. Soldiers go into battle equipped with 30-round magazines, yet Joe Blow can legally fit his AR-style rifle with up to 100 rounds of highly lethal .223 ammunition! That’s just insanity.

    NOTE: Before 2nd Amendment zealots decry my characterization of the AR-15 as largely similar to the military’s M16 and M4, know this: *I don’t care. I’m former military; qualified on the M16. I’ve done my research on the AR-15, and stand by the facts.* Yes, there are all kinds of technical differences, such as barrel length, .223 vs. 5.56mm ammo, and on and on. That doesn’t change the fact that the M16, and subsequently the M4 and all their variants, began with the AR-15. It doesn’t change the fact that they have nearly identical muzzle velocities of some 3,100+ fps, imparting over 1,300 ft lbs of kinetic force capable of eviscerating flesh and bone.

    Mayor Pete, Democratic candidates for President, Senators and Representatives, stand with the overwhelming majority of Americans, and even gun owners, by finally saying, “Enough.” Then actually acting.

    Your first order of business is to disavow the NRA and reject their political donations. When everyone acts, the NRA’s undue influence in government dies. Returning government to it’s intended model: Of the people, by the people and for the people.

      The key observation is that a vocal minority of gun owners immediately cease upon the “they pry my gun from cold, dead hands” position, all the while arguing their second amendment rights. However, what’s completely lacking is a single proposal to address the gun violence epidemic in this country.

      I’d love to hear a single cogent argument, other than “it’s my Constitutional right”, for why anyone other than law enforcement and the military needs an assault-style firearm.

      As someone who’s educated and politically aware, as well as a veteran, I concur with your implication regarding the undue political influence afforded corporations and special interests as a result of their financial contributions to parties and candidates. The NRA is most certainly one of those special interests, and their influence is blatantly obvious and well documented. To assert otherwise is simply incorrect.

      As for your last statement about “We the people for the people”, get it right, would you. You challenges would be so much more credible.
