Internal Trump administration projections estimate that about 3,000 Americans will die from the coronavirus every day by June 1, according to CDC documents obtained by the New York Times.
The increased estimates come as states have eased restrictions and after a weekend many Americans spent outside at protests or enjoying spring days in the park. Florida, Colorado, Indiana, Nebraska, South Carolina and West Virginia, among others, moved to loosen restrictions in an attempt to revive a sputtering economy and calm restless residents.
But the projections make clear that these reopenings come with fatal risks.

9/11 was a gut punch as I was leaving high school, 2008 financial collapse was a fiinancial gut punch. housing costs are astronomical, student debt is crippling. now this Covid-19 situation which is like a gut punch every single day. i’m an older millennial and I’ve done everything I could to get ahead and despite making numerous sacrifices (STEM degree, worked since 16, saved some money, missed numerous social events working fulltime and going to college fulltime, paid my way without a single cent from familly or parents, etc.), i don’t see how i can afford a family or afford to buy a home. Is history repeating itself? Am I part of a new lost generation?

Of those infected (x) will die. not the whole population. those infected. and of those infected it has ranged from 2-10% mortality depending on the area. and of those almost all would have been ppl to die from pneumonia or some other common killer of geriatrics. we are doing all this to protect grandma in the nursing home who has been bed confined from her stroke 10 years ago and catches pneumonia easily now and cant get rid of it entirely. that’s the majority of the at risk population we are talking about.

Sorry forgot to add that you have to remember she sees it all around her every day in various degrees. Some patients not to bad and some on their death beds. Not a pretty sight.

Third world nations are doing the same, and do not have developed healthcare and reporting agencies to maintain accurate counts. We can clearly see the impact of the virus when allowed to spread unabated in Iran

@I love tech 5/3000=0.0016. not really sure what your point was anyways. i hope its not to say that the mortality rate empirically stands at 0.0016. its been pretty steady at about 2% of those infected with some spikes up 10% when you start looking at more local data and of those that died most had comorbidities. and you also need the number of ppl testing positive on the boat not the number of ppl on the boat. did they all test positive,? cuz i cant find that number any where. i also think you might be confused in thinking that i believe this to be a high number. its not to me personally but i also think you might be a little slow.

As much as I despise Xi N N, CDC did say they estimate 3k daily death’s by June. Trump’s initial 200K prediction may actually be the more accurate one. We still don’t know how many died before we started testing for Covid, we may actually be close to 90-100k already. At the end of January we had 15 million flu cases and 8200 deaths.. Virus has been around since December at the least, some say November. Testing didn’t really start until late February and only a few hundred tests were given at that time. Didn’t really pick up until mid March.
