Gaye Englund Concerning the sexual escapades of both Trump and Biden. When Trump was playing around he did so as a private citizen. He spent his own money, his own time as a private individual you and not with government . As president, there have been no allegations of any sexual wrongdoing on behalf of Trump.
Joe Biden has a strong reputation in DC of being very free with his hands on women. At the time of this latest sexual assault allegations he was a powerful United States senator. He was in a position of extreme power, he was an elected official being paid by taxpayers and as such expected to maintain a higher standard. According to the victim, Biden used his power to overpower the victim who was working for him. This is improper. This is contrary to all of our teachings. This is inexcusable. This makes him no better than Harvey Weinstein the powerful movie producer who assaulted young starlets. I don’t care who you are this is highly improper it must not be condoned. There is a big difference between being a private citizen and being a powerful member of the U.S. Senate.
@T. R. Campbell I don’t presume to be an expert on economics so maybe you are right in saying it has risen through other means. It is a commonly held opinion that using continual military involvement to underpin the economy is not a good strategy for long term growth as, though it boosts employment, it doesn build infrastructure. However, it is the trademark of modern US presidencies and is continuing with Trump. However, if people have personally benefitted from the Trump presidency in a material way, then they should vote for him if he is the direct reason for that benefit. I am over ideology as a basis for my vote as it tends to lead down some strange paths where people don’t get what they deserve from the economy.
Gaye Englund I understand very well. I believe that people must grasp at opportunity in order to get ahead and be self-sufficient rather than rely on others. Clearly education is a key to the future. Whether this education is in the realm of scholastics or in the trades, education or job training is important. When we cast our eyes on rebuilding the economy after this virus we must ask ourselves which candidate would be better at rebuilding the economy, Trump or Biden?
Individually we must look at opportunities. What is going to be needed in the future. Transportation is always a key indicator of the economy. Prior to the virus the trucking industry needed 6000 drivers. Truck
and trailer manufacturers needed workers. I believe there will be ample jobs for regional and OTR drivers. Prior to the virus many females were entering traditional male dominated fields such as the construction trades and CDL drivers.
I foresee many opportunities with a new post virus economy. Thanks for the post.
@M Firstly, I see your point on the thread and secondly standards are set by the community and it does seem that sexual misconduct has been deemed OK for a president.So even though you may vote for a third party candidate the chances are you will have either Biden or Trump as president. I don’t think the allegations should just go away but even if they are true, there are the same allegations against both men and people have a right to vote for one because they are not the other if they feel strongly about that and to me it is a valid enough reason.
I believe we should stop believing what other people should or should not do. Instead, every person should ask themselves who will give me and mine the most opportunity to “live long and prosper”. A good economy does not necessarily benefit everyone and neither does grasping every opportunity work for all. So my best advice is vote for whatever you think may work for you and steer clear of generalisations or ideals.
