Americans are constantly telling themselves that the US is the greatest country in the world. They’ve been resting on their laurels since the end of WWII. Reality hasn’t caught up with most of them yet.

It’s all a government plot to grab their civil liberties. I have no immune system left, so this thing will more then likely get me before it’s over.

Bridges, dams, highways (which were finished by Eisenhower). Unions and regulating the monopolists caused the formation of the middle class. Prosperity existed for decades. Then the other bozo actor president undid all of it. Republican deregulation and breaking of the unions caused the wealth of the nation to go to the top 1%. That’s why you lost everything you worked for all your life. If you want it back, read up on the history of the US and start voting Dem. Then get back to me in a few years.

Just to let America know, New Zealand and Australia are opening up and people are going back to work because the citizens went into lock down. They didn’t have armed protesters trying to run down nurses in the streets, they didn’t carry on like spoilt children. No,the citizens in both countries were guided correctly by wonderful leadership. The leaders weren’t in a panic because they could hold rallies to tell their followers that they’d won any election…. the citizens kind of know that because each vote is a valued vote, plus they figured out the leaders were elected without being told hundreds of times. Nope, they just discussed it like grown ups with the citizens and everyone worked together. Now it’s on to the next big adventure for those countries. Oh… and back to work, the gym and the coffee shop. Yessss!

He cut taxes on the rich and corporations which destroyed our revenue stream and then borrowed even more money from China to make up the shortfall. If we’re in debt, well that’s all on Trump. He’s had three years to fix things and instead all he’s done is destroy all the progress we’d made in the last decade. Is he helping farmers and small business? No. He’s helping Wall Street and his corporate cronies. All his life he’s wanted a seat at the table with the richest and most powerful people in the world and he finally got it. Re-opening prematurely is not the only solution to the suffering of the 30 million unemployed. Trump could do what every other rich country has done – provide an income while the lockdown lasts for those who’ve lost their jobs. Forcing people to risk their lives, forcing them to return to unsafe workplaces without adequate testing and no proper tracing regime is cruel and abusive – it’s treating them like serfs. The US is the richest nation on the planet. It can afford to fund its unemployed through the remaining lockdown. It just doesn’t want to.

Well, maybe if Trump hadn’t slashed the Federal income to the bone with his tax cuts for the rich, we’d have plenty of money to do that. Or if he hadn’t allocated such a huge budget to our military. Maybe if he hadn’t been slashing social services left and right, we might have an actual response already in place. If he’d filled all the empty jobs in the government with competent people instead of political lackeys. Maybe if he’d shored up Obamacare instead of dismantling it. We could have universal healthcare in this country right now and an actual response to this pandemic and tens of thousands of lives could have been saved. Instead, we have Trump.
