  1. Why stop at Afghanistan? Let’s get out of/end our proxy wars throughout all of the Middle East and North Africa!

@Curunir Did you check Liberia’s history ? I suppose you are aware of the fact it was an American “experiment” and that the civil war that broke out speaks volumes about the efficacy of the US “peace and freedom exporting model ” also they are 76% of protestant faiths mainly American denominations .

    THE HEROIN MUST FLOW.

    • @Robert Hudson My exact point above before reading your comment. We often forget bright minds such as Major General Smedley Butler: “War is a racket. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.”

What Fareed is arguing is that we need to avoid another catastrophe like our rapid withdraw from Iraq. If we withdraw too quickly without setting the groundwork for a stable Afghanistan our troops will have to come back to Afghanistan again. It’s true that we’ve been in Afghanistan for too long, but it is the fault of both this President and our past Presidents for not doing this sooner.

Seriously. Let’s just express some intestinal fortitude, make a plan, and leave.
The Russians learned long ago to get out and cut their losses, but with our “American Exceptionalism”, we have to show that we can waste more lives and more money than them.
