    1. @Michael Darling it will be if nobody is gonna wanna pay rent at a building that lacks Essential charging infrastructure

    2. @Git Gud Then landlords will install chargers to attract their lost tenants. It is capitalism after all.

    1. @Racing Haarrley Keen All Governments are going the same direction… they can tell you differently but EVs is where the industry and the World is going. There is no going back.

  1. Great “News Organization ”
Wrong again. Wrong year in the title.
    You’re all geniuses.

  2. Typo in headline as it’s 2035, not 2023. Maybe govt, could force gas stations to also provide natural gas so we can also use that in bi-fuel cars or ones converted to natural gas like in other countries

    1. @Sorrow MG2 yes and also the electrical grid doesn’t have the capacity yet for all cars to go electric

    2. @earthsteward9 i simply meant if you buy a (say) ford have some chargers at the dealership so you can use that while infrastructure is set in place…short term response to limited access to electrical charging stations, and dealerships are currently everywhere so no need to invest in land.

  3. As soon as a I read the title I was wondering how long it would take them to walk back that goal. Then after watching the video dumb news got the title wrong lol

  4. There has to be another option… if electrical grid goes down… they must come with solar roofs as a backup

    1. @Mike Roberts huh 🤔?? they have solar panels on campervans.. not that much of a reach..

    2. @Ron McKee The emergency gas generator in the trunk will be standard equipment sold with every electric vehicle right next to the jack and spare tire.

    3. @EVOLUTIONARY LIFE What is really funny is that most Gas stations, can’t pump gas, if the Electrical grid goes down!!!

  5. The batteries need lithium, nickel, copper and cobalt . All mined using lots of oil and gas. Tires come from oil and gas. Roads made from asphalt. I want to see ev trucks hauling 40,000lbs chicken feed in minus 20 c. The batteries are also difficult to recycle. I like the idea but it is not going to happen overnight.

    1. ^definitely not gonna happen overnight but it’s a step to the right direction

… electric cars combined with high efficiency solar panels will be a game changer

    2. Yeah more open pit mines , toxic tailing ponds and foreign international blood lithium… Great idea.

    3. Wait until all the road rax on fuel disappears…what will be taxed next….electricity perhaps!!!!

  6. Your EV can be shut off by remote just like they shut down your bank accounts! Think about that!

    1. @Terry Goodman My Bank Account has never been shut down. “Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time” just think about that!!!

  7. “Feds to ban all new gas powered car sales by 2023?” The video said 2035!

  8. Has Trudeau thought of where the power is coming from? More electric cars means more power blackouts! Is there plans for more power generation or is that someone else’s problem?
Why doesn’t Trudeau park his big GMC SUV gas guzzlers and drive around in an electric vehicle?
More do as I say, not as I do!
Trudeau, set the example for once!

    1. Currently Canada does not experience blackouts from excess demand on the grid. I’m pretty sure that the supply and grid issue would be dealt with in 13 years from now.

    2. @Daeniilanen E maybe not from demand but the power goes out for days on end for much of rural Canada all winter long, and we all know when a self driving ev malfunctions and smashes into a power pole at 120km/h and explodes into a fire ball the grid gonna be affected.

    3. Forget blackouts. Think about how the price of electricity is going to jump up to oil prices. Then also the prices of batteries and battery management systems will go through the roof as well. Enjoy the switch to electric now because prices are going to go up for electricity to the insane prices of oil. Hint: Buy stock in battery technology now. You won’t regret it.

    4. @LincolnTek Generating electricity is relatively cheap, Oil can’t compete with Electricity on a cost basis. One of the cheapest ways to generate electricity is using Solar Panels.

  9. You can make all the announcements that you want, you can retool every plant in Canada, but if the raw materials are unavailable you still can’t build more batteries.

  10. Why ban cars we need when there are literally hundreds of thousands of gas powered boats, snowmobiles and other non essential vehicles?

  11. Can’t wait to see how this ends the current government support. As it essentially says you can only drive in urban areas where the charging net works are but not say for example up north where distances and temperatures are a big deal. There’s also going to be a lot to explain to developing nations when we ship all those dead batteries offshore to be “recycled”
